It's honestly very funny to me how many people who clearly don't like Taylor feel the need to post on Twitter about her anytime she releases something.

I am a fan of the album, but I do agree with this. State of Grace in particular has such a beautiful soaring hook, and it has been a bit since we've gotten that.

she’s become the zeitgeist, and at that point everyone has an opinion. what’s weirder is how the stans can’t accept that and engage with the negative comments.

  4. i mean i would also love her to make a hundred more jimmy eat world songs but that's just not where we're at (State of Grace is my favorite taylor swift song)

people having an opinion on something they're likely not even going to listen to based on out of context lines is kinda pathetic. if someone is checking out the album and disliking it that's one thing but the kind of bad faith engagement I've seen seems like such a waste of time to me and leaves people looking silly and desperate.

there’s lots of weirdos out there who hate on popular things just to be contrarian. she’s extremely popular, slightly political, and the biggest star in the world…people are going to have opinions. fans just need to not engage in that side of it.

seeing stans get so defensive over strangers on the internet not liking their favorite billionaires record is bizarre.

I mean my inclination with any double album is to usually pair it down or envision it as a single 11-14 song record. I think this could use that, even if I like it quite a bit. There’s so much material over the last 4 years the problem for me isn’t really the sonic landscape, but I can definitely feel the recycled melodies. Anywho the best 10-15 songs here are really great.

yeah, I'm just saying that's funny to me. being a stan is embarrassing but being a hater the way certain people are is even worse because they're wasting time on someone they don't even like lol.

  10. Being edgy is so cool!

One of my friends I write music with loves hating on Taylor Swift and her music, even though he has never given her a real chance. He always just says "she just writes about white girl problems." And I always say "You realize everyone goes through relationship issues, right?" haha drives me crazy because she's a great lyricist and is doing better/more stuff than the majority of the pop artists out there right now, or maybe even ever. But some people just like to be edgy and hate on things that are universally loved. Like, my dad loves saying he hates Star Wars or any other popular movie, and wearing shorts and sandals in the snow, haha. It's dumb.

Ryan really released too much, haha. He was also an extremely derivative songwriter, so you could always tell when he was like "I'm going to write a Dylan song," or "I'm going to try to do my version of 'Purple Rain,'" or "Here comes a Tunnel of Love" tribute!" That all became more clear because his output was so extensive.

Mellon Collie is as many songs as Stadium and is one minute shorter than this. The Zach Bryan album is a good shout. And it's bad, but the Morgan Wallen albums are way longer than this and have no variety at all, haha.

I'm getting more of a Foo Fighters In Your Honor feel with this. That one did the electric/acoustic thing. This one has a poppier/synthier first disc and a more subdued piano-driven second disc.

It’s their parasocial relationship that drives them to protect someone who doesn’t need protection by them. Doesn’t help that she willingly feeds into it, either.

FWIW, I am a fan and I have been to multiple tours (even traveled for the Eras tour).

You can just call me out even though you’re wrong regarding whether I like her. There’s a block button here so you never have to see my comments, maybe use it.

Definitely not talking about you mate, I purposefully mentioned Twitter because I've not seen anyone on this site doing the kind of posting I'm talking about.

Nowhere in what I quoted did you mention Twitter. If I missed that elsewhere, I’m sorry.

I enjoyed posting about the album with you yesterday! You listened to the album and it seems like you actually enjoy a lot of it so why would I be referring to you?

It was the original post that started that discussion. No worries if you missed it. I definitely wasn't talking about anyone who just has criticism of the album though haha.

There's way too much going on with the double album and the sonic differences between them for me to fully comprehend all of it.
