idk. i’m not even a huge beach boys fan and i feel like for my non-obsessive music fan friends, he’s still kind of the stereotype for “tortured genius” musicians/one of our great songwriters

fogerty is a bit more niche for sure but idk if i’d go so far as to say underrated. also a bit of a geographic thing

People definitely know Brian Wilson. John Fogerty maybe not so much.

I knew John Fogerty was a singer, had no clue he was in a band. My wife said the same!

I have probably heard his name before. Would have never been able to connect it to CCR.

  8. Oh my gosh you didn't know so and so was in such and such band? Uh no I didn't, I didn't have white English-speaking parents who'd expose me to this kind of stuff growing up. My first rock band was Linkin Park. I didn't know who The Beatles were until a white friend in high school who was obsessed with them dragged us to go see Across the Universe

My dad would have on an oldies station when we drove around, so I am sure I heard a lot of the classics. But I wasn’t really into music at that age. Then he passed away when I was 12 and I fell into music, but current music. There’s nothing wrong with older music, but the vast majority of what I actively listen to is from 1999 and onward.

that’s truly breaking my brain lol. i can’t imagine knowing who he is and only knowing him solo. y’all really running back center field that much???

ccr in 69 is the best single year any band has ever had

Oh that’s interesting, definitely up there. The Beatles’ run from ‘65-‘67 was incredible, their 66 and 67 years are probably at the top.
But yeah knowing Fogerty and not connecting him with CCR is sad and making me think old man yelling at cloud thoughts

If "running back center field" is a reference to something I don't get it.

I’m on episode four out of ten of Cyberpunk Edgerunners and it is amazing so far. I know nothing about the game, but it’s stand-alone, like how Arcane was. It’s goes all in all the time and doesn’t let go.

I definitely know most classic rock that I do because my dad was constantly rotating between CCR, Bob Seger, Journey, and The Eagles greatest hits compilations

I had to Google what CCR is. I actually do know them but was not hip to the acronym. My parents were teen parents so my dad listened to 80s metal and punk and my mom listened to green day, blink 182, no doubt, etc when I was growing up so classic rock wasn't on my radar until years later and is still a huge blind spot for me

I can relate to this. I listened to my mom’s blink, NIN, and Dashboard Confessional cds. When I met my wife she introduced me to a lot of classic rock.

Meet Cute was alright. A lot darker than I was expecting.

And as a native New Yorker it was very frustrating to watch. You want me to believe that in one night they meet in a bar in Brooklyn, then grab late night dinner in the East Village, then take a ferry back to Brooklyn, then somehow wind up alllll the way on Roosevelt Island? Most illogical part of a very illogical movie lol

Man you guys are making me feel privileged that i grew up raised by a music nerd dad who made it a priority to introduce me to as much music as possible lol. My dad listened to everything, but his main era was late 70's/early 80s: Talking Heads, Springsteen, Warren Zevon, Elvis Costello, The Clash, Blondie, Patti Smith, ect. We also played a lot of No Doubt, Green Day, Smashing Pumpkins, ect in our house too.
