I like the people who were like "umm why a D23 parks panel in Brazil of all place?" It is like dawg have you never been to WDW or Orlando before?

Kingda Ka closed to make way for ‘record-breaking’ mystery ride at Six Flags Great Adventure

Only surprising because they didn't announce this before it permanently closed. It's been rumored for awhile, though.

The rumor is a giga coaster for the new ride replacing it in 2026.

 

Wow I’m a little shocked. Was it not super popular these days? I think overall Kingda Ka is a decent enough ride but over too quick. I haven’t been to that Six Flags in years, tho

 

It was definitely very popular though its hourly capacity wasn't that impressive. It was also a bit of an operational nightmare and was never that reliable -- I know they had to repair the launch system last year. I imagine that the powers that be at Cedar Fair just decided to cut their losses.

I've had season passes for a few years now, but I've only ridden it once. It was awfully fast but pretty uncomfortable. Nitro, Medusa, and El Toro are still the best rides there.

The park itself is pretty lame these days (which is why I won't have season passes next year). Advertising Vertical Velocity and then never opening it was a joke, as is that ride's hourly capacity of only 800 riders per hour.

 

Universal had surprise Wicked character performers in the park today.

bittersweet news. huge bummer to lose MuppetVision but getting them to stay in the park and take over RnR is an exciting idea

 

Agreed. It seemed like one of the last OG attractions at the park, so it’s a bummer to see it go. I’m still bummed it left DCA.

The Muppets coaster sounds really promising. I like this idea way better than just replacing Aerosmith with a different band

 

Yeah, a muppets corner there would be cool. Still wonder if they're just going to keep Launch Bay there forever or what. I enjoy going in there but it is a big space that is pretty wasted

 

Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t there talks of a Muppet Land happening in MGM when it first opened? And it just never materialized because of Jim Henson’s death?

It would be great to revisit that idea.
