Yep same here. I wasn't expecting anything one way or the other, but I am pleasantly surprised.

 

this always annoys me so much and there's no way to change it. apparently it just goes off the spelling of the first scrobble of the song.

Seems like they were listening to Bombay Bicycle Club/Foals when they wrote Told You So.

 

really excellent guitar work on this one, like it way more than hard times.

 

It's so good. It's so good. I love this band. I love their producer. That is all.

You mentioned Foals and Bombay Bicycle Club, and I hear a lot of a band called Little Comets on these new tracks. Specially in Hard Times.

 

Definitely hear more Bombay than Foals if anything. Really love this track.

Told You So sounds really similar to BBC's Luna, but Foals has some poppier tracks like:

 

These songs just get better and better and better and better every time I listen to them (and I've listened to them a lot).

 

Songs remind me of Cut Copy.

 

Oh I know Foals very well and don't disagree fully, but I defo still hear them less than BBC in this. Foals tend to err more on either the angular, beefier or atmospheric in general where as the riffs and "lightness" in this are so BBC for sure.

 

I keep trying to listen to other things so I don't burn out on these new songs but like....then I just want to listen to these two songs and end up doing that.

i love reading the FB comments about these, their "readers" are mad bc they are covering "bad music"

 

imo may pitchfork always cover bad music

 

loving this new direction. definitely where they needed to go. hayley looks stunning in the new video too. looks like they're all having a great time together too.

 

IMO bad music doesn't exist, just music that I like and music that I don't like.

(But yea it's pretty funny that people got upset about them covering FOB)

 

Another band that has similar guitar lines that came to mind is HIGHS.
