You don't know how much better this post made me feel. I haven't really talked with anyone who seems to know what I'm talking about when I say I can't even get a credit card on my own. I don't really talk about it a lot anyway bc it's in the past and I don't want to dwell on it but I was honestly confused when I talked about it with other survivors and they had not experienced the crushing debt I'm in.

 

If it makes you feel any better, you could probably rub it in your conservative co-workers faces that you're one of the reasons why their premiums are higher, and thank them for paying for you heh.

Obviously never had the experiences oyu have but I imagine I'd want to troll the shit out of people that I knew believed naive shit like "we pay for our own health care!"

 

Wonder if America,,,er...Budweiser is pissed at being associated with this.

I will take partial credit for it. I was only 22 years old and still didn't fully understand the concept of student loans. So, when I was diagnosed I was in school and had been doing pretty good at staying away from student loans, but it came down to the only way I was going to be able to stay in college during chemotherapy was to go from working full time to part time because at the time my job was a fairly physical job and I was around a lot of people so on the weeks I had chemotherapy the doctor recommended that I didn't work. So, I made the mistake of getting full student loans to supplement, because my wife was also pregnant at the time and was put on bed rest due to preeclampsia. So, I ended up defaulting on student loans, constantly being behind on my car payments, and credit card payments. However, because of the type of person I am I blame myself for not continuing to work as much and getting the student loans.
