    hmmm

Chino has genuinely described SNW as "horrible". He very rarely says anything positive about it and to be fair, he had a terrible time making it so you can understand why up to a point.

yeah yeah totally ive heard about the turmoil and the push and pull he and Stephen often faced plus just generally clashing with the other guys as well. Makes sense. I hope he can at some point look at it from a strictly song perspective and see that theres some real gems in there that should be fleshed out live

Very cool that they're playing Cherry Waves. Would love to see that in June, but I don't have my hopes up for it.

Considering they don't like that album, I'd feel so lucky to see any of Hole In The Earth, Beware, Cherry Waves, or Rivèie

Saw them soon after SNR came out where they opened with Rats! Rats! Rats! and I remember, just from the little bubble I was in in my mind, right up close to the rails on the floor, the venue burst into a wonderful blend of confusion/panic/hype with just how hard this song goes.

(that was my first time seeing them as well)

Cherry Waves is a top ten (maybe top five) Deftones song for me for sure. Chi's bass work in that song is amazing.

    She haunts the roads

I mean, it's not just Steve and Chino not getting along. Apparently all the band members were on such bad terms with each other that everyone's parts were recorded in entirely separate studios.

There's also that fact that during recording Chino was kicking his drug and alcohol addiction and going through a divorce simultaneously. (The album title is a reference to the nerve damage he would frequently experience after binging.)

And it's also the last album they released before Chi died. All of which I'm sure brings up very strong, complicated feelings.

They've slowly been reintroducing songs from it into their live set, though, which I hope means they're slowly but surely coming back around to it!

I remember reading interviews with Abe about how much he didn't like the producer either. Like, they had an idea of what recording with him would be like and they were excited about working with someone different, but it turned out to be the complete opposite of what they were expecting. Abe hated recording that album.

    hmmm

Yeah, it was Bob Ezrin who started the album and Abe and Chino really didn't get along with him. There's an interview from around SNW's release where Chino's talking about Shaun Lopez (who ended up finishing the production of the album) and saying how helpful it was piecing it together at the end with someone he trusted. Stef leaps in and asks "so you didn't trust Ezrin?" and Chino responds "not really, no".

It's weird cuz I think the production on SNW actually turned out pretty good considering how much strife there was during recording, which is more than I can say for the last 2-3 albums from this band, especially Gore

He actually broke it at Groezrock festival on Saturday. They had to cancel a show in Germany on Monday but they played last night so I guess he's ok to finish the tour.

    From their Facebook

    "Hey Koln-

Regretfully, we have to cancel our show tonight due to Chino breaking the top of his foot. He needs to stay off it for the next day or two. No other shows as of now are in jeopardy of being cancelled. We hope to make it back soon to perform for you again. In the meantime, all tickets will be refunded. Thanks for your understanding.

So I guess it was only part of his foot so that's good. Hopefully it's not causing him too much discomfort.

  18. Any foot fracture is a bad one and usually take a long time to heal. I'm hoping for a speedy recovery though.

Hope he'll be okay and they won't have to cancel more dates. I'm seeing them in a little over a month.

Would be quite alright with Thrice taking on a longer set if the show must go on, but I doubt that would happen

  20. He's probably going to be stuck in a walking boot. Won't have to cancel shows but annoying for him to wear.
