NJ would be smart to move Schneider and target Raanta or someone similar

if they trade Schneider, I'd be totally fine trading a mid round pick for Ben Bishop's rights

 

Assuming you have them stockpiled like we do, it couldn't hurt. I just figured you guys would want to target someone younger.

 

Devils have 11 picks this year I think

They have their goalie of the future in Mackenzie Blackwood but he's at least a year from being ready

 

His defensive game is terrible and he wasn't great on 5on5 this year, but he is a great power play asset and under the right coach/system he can succeed

 

I can't help but get pretty excited when I see the Flyers pipeline pretty much everywhere but mainly on the backend and in net. They are so deep with talent there.

It sure would make a lot of sense...the problem is, what would the compensation be? Shero said that Kovalchuk cannot sign until July 1 at the earliest, which is after the draft. And they obviously don't have any players to trade. Wonder if they'd part with their 2018 1st?

 

Seeing as Vegas is probably a lock for a top 10 pick next year (not saying top 5 after the Avs got screwed lol), I don't see them trading it for a 34 year old who, while still producing, may very well be hitting the downslope of his career. If that happens I'm guessing something like 2nd+a player
