The points about the scars, running, "Them" referring to the parents, were things I didn't initially pick up on at first, so that's cool.
Numbers 10 and 18 are HIGHLY subjective. The Sunken Place is most obviously a metaphor, or a visible representation for how we believe comatose people live. In other words, if your mind is working but doesn't communicate with your body (motor functions and things along those lines) what would that look like? The fruit loops thing is just kind of weird. I'm sure she realizes that the cereal and milk will "mix" in her stomach.

 

I try to stay away from trailers, and I thought the first trailer for this was so well done, so I'm already sold. Don't think I need to watch this clip

 

It Comes at Night Review

 

That trailer has me at maximum hype. Oops

 

My resolve is really being tested haha. I want to watch that trailer. It Comes At Night is my new most anticipated now that I've seen Raw and I really want to limit my exposure to it before actually seeing it.

 

Can definitely relate. Almost didn't watch this one because the first one had me sold too hah.

So on the topic of trailers, what is it about the second trailers that makes the movie seem less likely to be good? There's so many movies where I remember seeing the first trailer and just getting absolutely ecstatic about the movie - then they release a second trailer and I'm just like, uh... wtf is this? Luckily that wasn't the case for It Comes At Night, but seriously like 90% of the time, the second trailer almost sells me on not seeing a movie. What is itttt about those darn things.

Thoughts on The Lords of Salem? Been thinking about watching it for several weeks now and just haven't gotten around to it. Seems a very decisive love / hate

 

I've never seen Aliens either. At this point I should probably rewatch Alien too

 

Aliens is one of my fave sequels! I pretend the 3rd does not exist

 

To anyone that watches Aliens, you need to watch the director's cut. There is a key element that was revealed about Ripley's character and it makes the majority of the movie make so much more sense. Weaver actually said that the only way she'd return for the sequel is if Cameron included this little detail, which he balked on at the last minute before theatrical release. Luckily he put it back in on the director's cut.

Sherri Moon Zombie is such a horrible actress. So much so that she completely takes you out of whatever story may be going on in Lords of Salem.

 

Can you remind me of what that was? It's been awhile since I've seen the Director's Cut. You can put it in spoiler tags

 

Ripley had a daughter that died during her 50 some odd year sleep. How in the hell do you not include that? It makes the final battle between her and the Queen so much more epic and personal.

 

Oh okay, for some reason I always thought that was in the theatrical release. But yes, that element definitely makes it for a better character arc for Ripley.

 

I'm pretty familiar with Aliens but I haven't seen Alien in a long long time.
