I was listening to old Rawkus compilations this morning

 

i think we are just doing dinner this time. i hope. I'm going to wait another 4 months before I drink in excess again

 

See I haven't been either and I hate it.

I feel like I have so much to listen to and learn and I just wanna know as much as possible.

 

Never could get into them.

 

I'm surprisingly digging it. That just goes to show how much my music taste has matured from 5 years ago listening to utter shit.

 

I guess a question about this would be: If you don't spend enough time on the album, how much do you actually know about it?

 

Understatement of the Century: Max Martin knows how to write a damn pop song. This list is insane.

 

This is so true. That's why I've been trying to find a balance. I never force myself to listen to new music anymore. When I'm in that mood I'll do it.

I also don't force myself to listen to current year releases for the sake of a list anymore. I just listen to whatever.

 

I tend to do this a lot the past year. I want to spend a good amount of time with albums, but it feels like I have less and less time to invest in deep listens.

Also, if you liked High Violet, definitely check out Trouble Will Find Me. Another great one by them.

They're so good live. I only saw them at Riot Fest the year I went, and I really want to see them on a proper headliner.

 

I will listen to quite a few albums once over the course of a year. But, I say I maybe delve into 4-5 albums that'll last for me throughout the years?

Like last year. Lemonade, TBEITBN, Infinity Blues are still in constant rotation. TLOP and Coloring Book to a lesser extent. Otherwise, Norma Jean is the only album outside of those I even have, I think. And I definitely weight to legacy acts, aka, if I've liked their other stuff prior.

Two more #1s and he sets a new record for #1s by a producer. So... basically Taylor's next album and he's set.

 

I'm trying to listen to more new bands because I got static and complacent and that's not fun

 

Listen to Dreamcar nxt month. I guarantee it's gonna be a good album, or else.

I think the last time I completely fell in love with an artist I'd never heard of before was Reach For The Sun...which is getting scary close to a decade ago.

I probably find one or two albums every year by a new band or band that's new to me anyway that I love

 

Pinegrove and Foxing are two big ones for me this past year.
