Curious about the next wave, but I think I may have to head out to this one.

Plus, I'm always down for a Chicago trip.

Strange... is riotfest turning into the new warped tour? Lineup is certainly pop punk enough... headliners are much bigger though

Thanks to The Fest announcement, I am really hoping that Against Me! playing reinventing axl rose is on the second wave.

Hmm I hadn't thought of it but it seems possible. That would make sense why they waited until the 2nd wave to announce (since that's Fest's main event, they let them have the first announcement).

anyone think FOB could be on the second wave of announcements?

I think it's unlikely, just because I assume they'd be a high billing with it being Riot Fest / a hometown show and the top of the lineup already looks pretty crowded. I'd be all for it (though not nearly as excited about it as I would have been a few years ago), but I don't see them having both paramore AND fall out boy on a year where neither headlines (plus NIN / jawbreaker)

the thing is I really don't see Jawbreaker being the main headliner for that day.

I personally wouldn't mind that, but I guarantee if that turned out to be the case a lot of people would complain about it feeling like a bait and switch. I'm sure they billed Jawbreaker as a headliner to make sure people on the fence about traveling to see Jawbreaker come out.

With all of that being said, I'm 100% on board with everyone that keeps saying that they are either overestimating how much Jawbreaker will draw or they know and dont really care, because I think specially towards the end of their set their crowd will be relatively small for a headliner. Should be a cool experience sinceit'll be people who stuck around specifically for it like with the misfits last year

I'd count against that, I think AM! could be in the second wave but that'll be a Fest exclusive. More of a hometown thing I doubt they branch it out anywhere else.

Yea I think the Jawbreaker thing is definitely more out of respect to the band, and if this is just a one-off show, they probably want to give them a headliner time-slot (so they play longer vs. an hour set earlier in the day). It's definitely going to be the least attended headliner I think, especially on a Sunday night. I'd imagine if they did something like have Paramore play against Jawbreaker, Paramore's crowd would be pretty significantly larger. I think they'll probably have Jawbreaker play unopposed so it's either leave or go see them.

I really can't see them moving Jawbreaker from the headlining spot though since the poster pretty clearly implies they are headlining Sunday.

Fall Out Boy is a nice thought, but I think they're more likely for next year.

sad to see they can't take criticism at all
all it takes is a comment saying "hi i understand the complaint and we know this is something we did poorly at this year, we are aware of that and we will work harder in the future"

they don't even need to actually do it to say that and save face

It is listed as a FL exclusive.

I think that just means that it's the band's only show in Florida this year. Beach Slang is listed as a FL exclusive and they're playing Riot Fest, for example.

Riot Fest 2017 is very similar to Warped Tour 2016. Probably why I am hyped about the lineup this year. It looks like Good Charlotte will get added. Hopefully Sum 41 and The Maine do as well.

    New Found Glory
    Mayday Parade
    Real Friends
    The Story So Far
    State Champs
    Four year Strong
    Knuckle Puck

    Things have changed.

There is 0 chance Fall Out Boy is getting added.

I remember when FOB closed out Friday night in 2013 and I really thought they'd do something special and play TTTYG and then was very let down

Same. I think a ton of people were expecting that. If they were gonna do it anywhere I think that would have been the time

Also what about the Movielife for second wave bands? New album coming in the fall, no chicago date since riot fest 2015 according to setlist.fm. Seems like a combination that makes sense?

Same. I just hope this year the schedule has less conflicts than last year, because some of the decisions were really rough for some of those mid sized acts (motion city x hold steady, TWY x Thursday, Descendents x Brand New, All Time Low x Refused x Ween). I would hate having to choose between stuff like movielife / menzingers / NFG / etc

  24. Ben Buchnat

    Whatever. Forever.

I'm only going on Sunday so any mid-tier conflicts like TWY vs Thursday and Decendents vs Brand New would really really hurt.

Don't even say something like that last conflict haha that would kill me.. I'm picking Menz over anyone but it would hurt to have to miss NFG or someone else in my top

I Am The Avalanche and NFG played at the same time 3 years ago and I was super bummed about that one.

Descendents vs Brand New was the worst ever last year though
