    Things have changed.

Wow, I totally just remembered Pax Am. That thing was garbage.

The thing that I truly love about Fall Out Boy is the fact that every single album of theirs has a Nostalgia factor to it for me. Even AB/AP has gotten around to bringing me back to two years ago when it first came out. It's cheesy and I may be biased because I have truly loved this band since TTTYG first came out, but each album resonates with me in a different way and brings back different time frames in my life. This is mostly because when their albums come out it's on repeat for a while in my car.

I can't really speak for everyone else, but I don't think that TTTYG is "hated"as much as it might be implied on here. It is just the album that hasn't aged as well as the others in their opinion. TTTYG came out right when I got out of high school and was starting college. To be honest, at the time I could really relate to it. I still had that teenage angst in me that was angry at girls for breaking my heart. Now, I'm 32 years old and I can't even remotely relate to it and find some of it downright offensive. Mostly, because I got older and have matured a little bit and instead of blaming every single breakup on the other person I am able to step back and take blame for what I have done as well. However, it doesn't take away from the memories that come back to me when I hear a song off of it. TTTYG is just not an album that I will normally go out of my way to revisit.

Each album represents about a two year period of my life because once Fall Out Boy release a new album it's usually on regular rotation up until the next album comes out.

Take This to Your Grave: (2003 - 2005) This was a big album at the end of high school into early college.

From Under the Cork Tree: (2005 - 2007) This one was released right in the middle of my college years.

Infinity on High: (2007 - 2008) End of college, beginning of marriage number one.

Folie a Deux: (2008 - 2013) End of marriage number one, beginning of single dad life.

Save Rock and Roll: (2013 - 2015) Single dad life and starting "career."

American Beauty/American Psycho: (2015 - Present) Married life with 5 kids in which 2 out of the 5 kids now are obsessed with Panic! At the Disco and Fall Out Boy

Honestly, I could even throw in their eps and b-sides that have been released throughout as well. All I know is that the main reason that this band is my favorite band and has been since I first heard TTTYG is because I have grown up with them and felt like I've always had a "soundtrack" to different eras in my life over the past 14 years.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what is next from them.

This is an interesting read as I'm a year older than you (turned 33 last Nov) and had the same path. Can't really revisit TTTYG much unless it's just for fun. FUCT is a littler better though the middle part is a bit drab for me. IOH is probably their best front to back in my opinion while Folie A Deux has killer songs. I've had a bit of extended youth shall we say (just got married last year) so their "later period" was during my later "refusing to grow up" period (i.e. still going out to shows 3-4 nights a week and getting excessively drunk into my early 30's haha). I'm now married and living in Brooklyn as opposed to Greenwich Village so I'm curious as to if their next release will be more "adult" or if they're still aiming for a youthful sound.

Listened to ABAP for the first time in a while. Favorite Record is pretty much the only standout track on the second half.

Aside from the best song on the album "Fourth of July" and two more of the best songs "Novacaine" and "Twin Skeletons".

abap is great and i'd probably think it was still great if it were just "fourth of july," "the kids aren't alright," and nine wack songs

I think we're gonna get a more dancey-soul vibe from this new one, more Miss Missing You and less Centuries

also listening to sr&r for the first time in forever.

Alone Together didn't get as big as it could have been.

Young Volcanoes (even though I'm not on it yet) belongs in the end credits of a feelgood romantic comedy

    just wanna clarify

I have zero hesitation in saying that Young Volcanoes is the best (ignoring Pax-AM Days) post-reunion song of theirs, and probably a top 10 FOB song overall

I can say that I feel like each album has matured further than the one before. Especially, when it comes to the lyrical content and theme. Maybe it's because I'm around the same age as them and going through the same types of situations as them.

When they came back from the hiatus it could not have come at a better time for me personally. I had gone through a divorce that, at the time, was not what I wanted. I was really trying to figure out who I was at the time. I was thrown back out into the world of "dating" and being a single father 50% of the time.

Folie a Deux will always be my favorite album of theirs (I just don't see them being able to top it), but they all hold a special place in my heart.

I'm really not sure what to expect from this album. I think lyrically and theme wise I'll be able to relate to it, but as far as sound goes there is no telling what direction they will go with it. If the natural progression of their albums from TTTYG to AB/AP is any indication as to where they are going then I believe this album will definitely be the most "pop" sounding album we have gotten from them.

Again, Fall Out Boy is a band that has always done the unexpected so I have no idea what it will sound like, but I do know that I will always give it a chance.

One thing I did forget to mention is that almost every album of their has always had to "grow" on me because they are so drastically different that the album that came before it. Which, is one of the reasons I enjoy them so much.

Love or hate their new stuff, the one thing that cannot be said about this band is that their new material is just "more of the same." I would rather a band release what they want to release and have it sound the way they want it to sound and maybe I don't like it than to release an album that sounds like the music from before. There is not one part of me that wants to hear TTTYG, FUCT, IOH, FAD, SR&R, or AB/AP part 2. And what I love about this band is that I will never have that problem.

Every album cycle is exciting and though people complained about how this album cycle started with the short clip with Friday's date on it, I think they still have a few tricks up their sleeve to get people excited. I mean I'm not gonna lie, it may not have been their finest hour for an announcement, but it got people talking about it. So, it did what it sought out to do. Even the people complaining about how it wasn't a great announcement will listen to the new music.
With that said, I'm excited and I think that this album will be the "soundtrack" to the next year or so for me. This band has never let me down and I highly doubt they are gonna start now. I can't wait for this to drop and hear what everyone has to say.

Even the fans that have given up on them because they might not like the direction they took still give their new material a listen for the most part from what I've seen. So, there's something to say for a band that has fans who have "given up," but still go out of there way to listen to new material.

I, for one, truly believed that after I heard the title track from their last album that I might get the first Fall Out Boy album that I didn't care for, but after it came out and listening to it in it's entirety, the track made a lot more sense in context. I'll probably never give up on this band.

If I had to pick one favorite song from post-hiatus it would be "Save Rock and Roll." That Elton John feature gets me every time. "Young Volcanoes" and "Alone Together" are also up there.

I think that AB/AP is a better album than Save Rock and Roll, but I think the best songs on Save Rock and Roll are better than anything on AB/AP, if that makes sense.

Fall Out Boy are one of the few bands where i don't like a single album from front to back but i love at least a handful of songs from every album (except TTTYG).

Speaking of fall out boy, i own that Joe Trohman Tele, best guitar i ever bought for sure. It just sounds SO good, extremely versatile and i got it very cheap.
