I'm not a CoD fan by any means (I'm a big Battlefield fan as some of you may know) but Sledgehammer is a really good developer and I'm therefore potentially willing to look past the branding

 

Weed camo mp40s, Nazis dabbing in the trenches, game modes locked behind supply drops, multiplayer will be trash. Campaign might be good.

 

I mean Destiny 2 is coming out so I won't buy any other shooter after September anyway I guess

 

I completely forgot about Destiny 2. Okay, yeah, I'm good on FPS games for the year.

 

I'll maybe get Battlefront 2 if i hear great things about the campaign but for the most part I'm rarely interested in FPS's these days.

"Call of Duty: WWII" is the laziest title of all time. Like calling the next Zelda "The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule." Their contempt for their audience is palpable lol

 

I means that's what we do now right - Battlefield 1 (crazy because there is a, you know, first Battlefield game already), Destiny 2 (which is an insane name conceptually), Battlefront 2 (see Battlefield), haha

 

Battlefield 1's title was nonsensical and lazy simultaneously, sure, but that doesn't change how lazy this title is as well. Destiny 2 (a fully separate sequel to an MMO that released three years ago and had several subtitled expansions) and Battlefront 2 (a sequel to a reboot) both make sense to me, though.

 

If it were up to Bungie/Dice, I doubt they would just slap the number 2 to the end of the title.

Good luck telling the people with dollar signs in their eyes over at Activision/EA that you don't want a numbered sequel. They've seen the numbers, and have read the studies.

 

@Anthony_D'Elia But there already is a Battlefront 2 is the point.. it's a Star Wars video game from 2005. That's why it's dumb.

Destiny 2 I just mentioned because it's conceptually weird, haha. Nobody has multiple destinies.

I don't think that's correct in the slightest with respect to Destiny. The first game, while wildly successful, left a lot of people feeling burned. Simply calling it "Destiny 2" is a statement to people who fell out of playing the original that this is a fresh start, free of the old baggage (outdated engine, having to develop for PS3 and Xbox 360, hopefuly peer-to-peer connections, etc.) and, thus, is worthy of their time and money. As for Battlefront 2, Battlefront 2015 was a reboot, and you can argue against reboots using the same title as the thing they're rebooting (a valid argument, in my opinion) but that doesn't mean DICE didn't want to do it. Again, its signalling that this is a fresh start and isn't beholden to the old titles (although in Battlefront's case, being behold to Battlefront II from 2005 would have been a good thing).

Well yeah the name is just a sympton of the larger shitshow in both cases. I would have also named them the way they are now because of, well, money. Doesn't mean they aren't somewhat dumb though.

But in Destiny's case, it's a fix for the shitshow that was Destiny 1's original launch. I think if they had called it anything else it would have been a mistake, just from a pure marketing standpoint. This isn't an expansion, right, so it shouldn't be "Destiny: [Subtitle]." Just my take on it.

I love a good FPS campaign. Titanfall 2 and BF1 were both blasts last year. If COD WWII delivers, I'll jump right in. That with Battlefront 2 and we've got a great shooter fall again.

 

Holy fucking bad servers. Deformers servers are awful.
