The ex-pat international episodes in a non-European country are pretty hilariously bad as well.

Wife: I want to be close to the city center. I won't be working, won't have a car, and don't speak the language, so I don't want to be isolated. Plus I'd like to have all the modern amenities of our old home. A dryer, walk-in closet, and his/her sinks are a must!
Husband: I'd like to be out in the mountains/country/beach. We moved here to get away from our high-stress, rat race life in the US. I'd also like to live in something a bit more traditional, perhaps even a fixer-upper we could make our own.
Agent: Please take your pseudo-imperialism and leave my country forever.

So Congressman Kinzinger was in my tiny little village (pop 350) yesterday. His "I'm waving to everyone. Look at me, I'm a smug politician" was disgusting. The town I live in was celebrating the fact that they sold our water system to American Water. For 10 years, the EPA deemed our water not suitable to consume. I didn't get the chance to ask his stance on the proposed cuts to the exact agency our village was getting frame certificates from. He didn't stick around long. He's in hot water for not having town halls, but this weekend is having a "question/answer" where there won't be any back and forth allowed.

I feel like Hillary and the Juicero are made of the same universal material, that is, unadulterated sorrow.

 

also, my husband works across the street from the fire station where the 'event' was held. I was walking to my car and saw my husband so I waved. Kinzinger was driving by at that exact moment and waved back. Totally not waving to you, dude.

 

He's my old Congressman/my parents' current Congressman. Did you watch the Facebook town hall he did month or two ago? People seemed pretty upset about it. He also advocated for more military spending and avoided talking about the $70,000 he got from Comcast. I hate that guy. Also- the gerrymandering around Rockford is awful.

 

Rockford is where hes heading this weekend too. No I didn't get to see the facebook one, I was still in the hospital. But he works for US. He should have to address the people in his district. It was also gross how our local newspaper reporter was basically drooling over the fact that he was there. He did have time to ask him about the lack of town halls and fundraisers. It was more of a "look, im standing here, acting interested" photo op.

edit: the fact that he supported Trump/Ryan care disgusts me to no end. I really wish I had the chance to ask him about that yesterday but the newspaper reporter wouldn't gtfo of the way.

 

I really think he's trying to move up with all the appearances he's made on CNN and the like. I really don't think he cares at all about the area and cares more about what's going on in Washington and being Trump and Ryan's buddy.

 

You're absolutely right. From the newspaper: "Asked whether he has hosted fundraisers this year, Kinzinger said here have been none in the district lately, but he's had some in Washington. He said he didn't know the number, but it hasn't been a lot." Sure do care what those in Washington think of you, but sure as hell not here in the middle of a cornfield in IL. The district you so badly wanted to "represent"
