Heh, I get mad when he's used at all by politicians ... I hate that he's been basically lionized as the exemplary "politician" now and it just goes without any argument or push back, he's just the example to use.

Every damn politician basically does it at one point or another and I think I get mad every time.

Yeah, framing an argument by way of invoking Fonald Reagan, even if you're doing it to make a point about Republicans or whatever, is really stupid. The man was a monster, even if he was senile.

As terrible as that news thread is, I am thoroughly enjoying Jason and now Dominick's (since he's thrown his hat in the ring as well) posts in response. I'm sure it's a headache for you, but it's fascinating watching the ghost accounts fall over themselves in a failed attempt at making what they perceive to be a point while you chastise them endlessly for it.

Mine had pictures of Reagan, lucky you. Only I didn't actually get any of his stuff because his wife refused to give it to my dad or me and then made him pay for the ultra expensive funeral too. She was an absolute POS.

He loved jfk more now that I think about it but he loved Reagan and thought republicans weren't as bad as I made them out to be. Meh.

It isn't so much a headache as it is, like, despair that people haven't realized the reality of this world we live, particularly as it relates to marginalized people.

My grandpa was really smart about politics he just always fell for the fake patriotic bs every time, I guess when you come from where he did and went through all he went through you kind of hope for the best and the opposite of that. I mean I think I got him to vote for Obama and I almost convinced him to vote for gore, he was well-read for the most part. My dad is an absolute idiot and he would school him any time they got into a debate, hell I just owned him after this election lol

LOL I posted a similar status on fb in 2014 and had a few (white males, coincidentally) ask "why?" Re-shared it today with great pride.

 

I kinda just wanna not have the same arguments a million times over, you know? Like that's why I just have glossed over eyes and start basically trolling because it's like, "fuck this again?" Cause it's literally the same argument, again, and again, and again. At least with "newer" topics there's actually a reason to think you can do some good.
