This snap election makes me feel so frustrated. On the one hand, my reach on social media extends pretty much exclusively to the left wing of British politics, while I live in a staunchly conservative area where there is no opposition to the Conservatives. I feel powerless in changing minds and stopping a right wing political landslide. It's awful.

 

So my instinctual disdain for these flags was spot on...good to know!

 

Jason Chaffetz won't seek re-election? Could it possibly be? Oh, to be rid of that man.

Yep, exactly the same for me, most of Surrey is so heavily Conservative. Guildford was 57% Tory last Gen Election.

 

No one is to blame! It's no one's fault! It's only the Republicans, a group of a few thousand freaks and fucking weirdos who are totally disconnected with the rest of society, who are at fault. It could not possibly be a discrete class of people who are the beneficiaries of this system who cause the problems. The system is bad, but it's beneficiaries....Are very good

In my George W. Bush-esque deck of cards, Chaffetz is like the King of Clubs. So I am pretty damn giddy about this news.

Gonna have to promote someone to be the new King of Clubs.

 

More or less exactly the same for me- North Wiltshire voted 57.2% Tory in 2015. My MP is awful too- cheated on his ex-wife while she was terminally ill, pro-life, anti-gay, the works. It escapes me how people vote for him.

 

While Democrats are doing everything in their power to pretend their is no class war nor bad guys, Trump says every day "here are all the people who make your life shit. Hate them." No fucking wonder he wins when your response is "duhhhh America is already great and no one is bad actually, what do you mean you are dying in the street"

 

I'm a firm believer in the fact that we should hate more and hate better.

 

He's my MP too! He's awful.

 

I didn't know that about the mp there. What's his name, my parents live just outside Bath (they moved there a few years back) so I'll point that out to them if he covers their area.

Chafetz news probably means he's guilty of something, unless he's suddenly soul searched and wants to become a businessman to ruin people's lives just as directly as before.

 

The way he wrote it confused me haha I thought that at first but I didn't see a name attached. Not the worst name I've heard lol

 

More than anything, she seems to lack respect for black people and reifies blackness as a set of acts, e.g., braided hair and a manner of speaking, rather than it being a thing that we became in the hold of slave ships.

 

Solidarity is nice haha. It's frustrating knowing I'm just outside Chippenham where a vote could make a difference (conservatives could quite easily swing to Lib Dem). So close and yet so far.
