Still too early to tell but I can see MMS settling in comfortably anywhere from slot 5 to slot 7

  7. NWAF has a few solid songs but mostly just wreaks of contrived crap to me. Everything from the cheesy chugga chugga breakdowns, hardcore screams, that god awful UFC marketing, another lead single about friends vs. women

They may as well have named it "Noooo please come back, were still hardcore we promise!!!: The Album"

The pre-chorus to Call Me Anti-Social is my favorite NFG moment in foreverrrrrrr

So I'm guessing there are no B sides or bonus songs with this album? I haven't been able to find any information to suggest otherwise.

    Things have changed.

I pretty much agree with all of this. I can get down with a few songs, but it's largely a skip for me.

It's got more highlights and a higher consistent level of quality than Catalyst.

I honestly just looked at the tracklisting and can't remember how 90% of the songs even go.

I disagree with this theory. I don't think NFG ever intended to stick with that slower "Coming Home" style. It would have killed their live shows. I'm sure they wanted to make Coming home at that point in their careers, but, they are a punk/pop punk band at their core.

Edit: Theory #2: Didn't Chad get divorced between CH and NWAF? Maybe Sherri inspired a bit of that CH sound and after the break up Chad never wanted to go back.

I'm blessed to be seeing the 4 seminal albums in full in August. But devested I'm assuming I won't hear any new tracks at those 2 concerts after hearing how good this album. I just want to dance live to the POA bridge or groove to 2 voices in a calyspso style dance

I think more than half of the band had bad break ups during Coming Home which led to its sound. Shame for them but good for us. Great record

I can't even do their album ranking lol , Self Titled is my favorite for being the most classic movie style pop/punk which I loved most as teenager but then every album reminds me something ...Nothing Gold - most cold winter in Czech Republic,S&S- my first NFG record,Catalyst - loved it as darker version of NFG on late elementary school,Coming Home - my first season in my favorite team I ever played hockey for,Not without the fight got my two favorite NFG songs ever and I got even the name of the album tattooed on my arm which was my first tattoo ever ( got a loooot of more music related tattoos since that) and then just Radiosurgery reminds me my first love in Boston and Resurrection another girl I loved the most here..pretty hard for ranking haha

There's 2 songs that sound Cure-esque to me. Like someone posted above I'm also struggling to remember names of songs to their tunes. But one in the backhalf also has similar guitar to In Between Days, and I love it

Were the break ups during Comjng Home? I thought they were after. I haven't listened to that album in a long time, but, it felt more like an "In Love" Record than a "Break Up" Record. I could be way off. It's been a looooong time.

Agree completely that a Coming Home part 2 was never coming, but arguing that NWAF wasn't simply a product of the backlash they had just received seems short sighted. For a band that had made changes from each album to the next (and honestly, every album since NWAF as well), it seems unlikely that they weren't just trying to make the safest play they could. "Listen To Your Friends" may be the most transparent attempt to recapture the magic of a band's success that I can possibly recall haha. I also don't think it's a coincidence that they happened to release a "heavy" pop punk album as the genre saw in increase in popularity with bands like FYS and SYG releasing their widely acclaimed debuts.

Idk though, it was a one and done thing hopefully, and whatever weird path they took to get here, I'm glad they've now released something in 2017 that were pretty much all finding something to like about! That's the important part :-)

I agree with the influence from FYS and SYG at the time. I think they just wanted to be the kings of easy-core again and show all the young bands how it's done. Result were questionable.
