Meh. To each their own. But the first 50 issues, to me, feel like a fun mash up of a Spider-Man / Superboy comic. The stuff with his dad, while an interesting twist / hook (of sorts), was never the high point for me. It was always the inventive / witty amalgams of famous comic book villains / tropes.

The scope expands greatly as the series wore on and it can feel real bloated at times. And because the series lasted so long, a lot of characters end up pretty unrecognizable. It stopped being a superhero comic and pretty much became an outer space adventure / war book later in its life, too. Which had its moments, but was never as fun or interesting to me.

But Robot and Monster Girl have a pretty awesome arc.

Yeah, I imagine they would be pretty confusing. But you can supplement with wikipedia, which I found helpful when reading Crisis on Infinite Earths. Quality-wise, it doesn't really have the emotional punch it did when it originally came out, because so much of what it represents have been duplicated or negated. I find it best to view in the context that it was one of the first true superhero crossover events, and that it was an attempt to streamline the DCU multiverse.

I have a strong nostalgic connection with Infinite Crisis, as I was fully immersed in DC at the time that happened. It was probably my first exposure to a big event crossover and I just loved it. So, I have a hard time separating those feelings out when discussing it.

So, I started Green Valley. I finished issue #2. Both issues have been solid. It is weird reading something and knowing that there is some twist to come. haha

I hope I like what is around the corner.

Exciting, keep me informed as you go along, I'm really curious how other people feel about it. Speaking of twists the newest one just had another super crazy twist that I'm kicking myself for not seeing coming (which is the best kind of twist, right under your nose). Only 2 more issues left and the final issue is suppose to be pretty huge. Going to be a pretty good trade when it comes out, assuming they collect it all.

Will do. I purchased up through issue 5, I think. So I will be reading those issues whenever I get the time.

The current Hawkeye series by Kelly Thompson? I am. It's fantastic. Captures so much of what made the Fraction one great without becoming a lesser imitation.

I like Slott's ASM more than a lot of people, but it's definitely a very different take on the character. A natural progression, but one that takes him a good way from where he once was. The upcoming Chip Zdarsky Spectacular Spider-Man looks to be telling some more traditional tales, which will be cool.

It's SO good. Seriously. Love it.

I loved Superior and the short ASM run after that with Spider-Verse but I just didn't like much of the new one at all sadly. I'll probably read more at some point for now I'm happy with Miles/RYV/Spider-Men2.

I still need to get Spider-Verse, but the initial launch of that ASM run looked pretty bad to me, lol. That sloppy art from Ramos certainly didn't help. The most recent relaunch at least had some really cool art from Camuncoli (who I think also contributed to Spider-Verse). I've not kept up w/ ASM, but Immonen is now on art, which looks fantastic.

When you get the chance, check out The Clone Conspiracy. I thought it was a really cool big Spider-Man story with a couple neat twists, and the Jim Cheung art in the main story was perfect for it.

Thompson has such a strong handle on Kate Bishop. Helps to have strong art from Leonardo Romero, especially with those Jordie Bellaire colors:

I read Infinite Crisis with very little knowledge of the DC universe and enjoyed it a lot. There's obviously going to be things you'll miss but you should be able to follow the main story fine. If you really want to be prepared read Countdown to Infinite Crisis (it's pretty quick) and check out Greg Rucka's Wonder Woman run leading up to it. A lot of the emotional weight comes from a decision Wonder Woman makes before the event starts.

Villain United which leads in Secret Six starts around that time too and that's one of my favorite comic runs.

Crisis on Multiple Earths is the only Crisis I have left to read (I believe). I don't feel comfortable at all in that era.

in the last two days i've read...

    autumnlands vol 1
    black science vol 1
    seconds

not sure why i slept so long on black science, it was sooo good and i'm super excited to get the next trade. the art was gorgeous. autumnlands was really fun too, not sure if i liked it quite enough to get the next trade, but i did enjoy it. finally seconds was super good and not quite what i was expecting. not like an all timer or whatever but if anything it made me really excited that i have the first snot girl trade coming this week haha.

Got a bunch more Lee/Ditko ASM read. Through ASM #28 (the graduation issue) & Annual #2 (team-up w/ Doctor Strange). Just 10 more issues of ASM in this omnibus, and then I can dive into the best era: Lee/Romita! :spiderman:

I really liked the start of it but i also really like Ramos' art for the most part, a lot more than Camuncoli's. I was so disappointed when he took over for Coipel on Spider-verse. I like Immonen a lot though so that's promising. I just find the whole business/globetrotting/gadgets thing real boring.

Sounds good, I'll definitely check it out at some point.

Also i should get to Guardians soon, I'm busy for the next few days but have nothing planned for the end of April so it should be easy to read it and write something up.

Read a bunch of Green Valley last night. Up through issue #6. So I am one behind. Unfortunately, I had just looked at comixology to purchase as many as I could and the cover to issue #7 kind of set me up for the wizard reveal of issue #3.

But still, it has been a really fun ride. I look forward to the last 3 issues. I am glad I gave this a shot despite how annoying I find Max Landis as a human being haha.

EDIT: Despite the fact that it kind of spoiled me a little, I really did dig the cover / trade dress and how it slowly transitioned as the series went on. That was a cool design feature.

Almost finished with Red Lanterns. I've liked the whole story. Any chance to have more Kara is great for me.

I want to go back and read some older Supergirl, but I'm reluctant. The New 52 arc and Bombshells have her really well written, but I feel like she might have been misused a lot in the past. Didn't like Loeb's run much at all.

Also getting my bombshells tattoo (probably) finished tomorrow.

Sterling Gates had a nice little run on Supergirl before the New 52. But in general, the Supergirl series that Loeb launched was terribly inconsistent. They couldn't keep a writer for too long and they couldn't decided on her origin. There are some good chunks, Sterling Gates' stuff being the best of those, IMO.

My uncle loves comics and he's getting ready to move. He's downsizing so he's trying to get rid of stuff. He told me he's got a bunch of trades for me. I'm excited. I'll post in here what I get and you guys can let me know what's good. I should be picking it up tomorrow.
