Is there a date I'd have to let you know by, or just submit it by May 8th if we do it?

 

I'll put you down for it just in case. If not, let me know and I'll change it to whatever you decide to do instead.

There isn't a date you'd have to let me know by, but the longer you wait, the more songs will be picked, so keep that in mind.

 

I sure hope she doesn't turn out to be a lesbian. If she does though, your co-cover would be quite a new level of irony.

PS I considered doing Pink Triangle because I have had that happen. I literally was able to say "I'm dumb. She's a lesbian."

I am shocked at all the post-Pinkerton choices.
And I am very upset that no Maladroit songs have been chosen : (.........maybe I'll swith out my selection for "Slave." MAYBE. I'll have to try playing both this weekend and seeing which one is best in my vocal range.

Also I just realized that I picked a new username for Chorus.fm. I used to go by ThisIsGoodbye. Excited to be taking part in these comps again!

Me too! I left this open so I didn't miss the announcement because I wanted to do a classic and figured they'd all be snatched up instantly. I'm blown away that so many new songs are being done and like 2 from the legendary albums. Very odd.

I'm going back and listening to the old comps I never listened to. Your Blink cover of "Always" was great.

 

"No One Else" was actually one of the three that I was contemplating on doing. I was kinda relieved when you snagged it because then I just had to choose between two songs, "Put Me Back Together" or "Jamie." And I chose the former. I already have some cool ideas for what I wanna do with it!

 

I'll actually go for "You Gave Your Love To Me Softly". Gonna try and do a full band thing with my buds. Hopefully it turns out good!

 

Nice. mine was between No One Else and Across the Sea, which was taken right away as well. if those 2 had been taken, I would have had no idea. Maybe buddy holly, which I'm still shocked hasn't been called.

I thought of a neat thing to do for one of these, at least for regulars where people know their style or know what they're capable of- assigned covers. Like, we agree on a band, then you'd pick what song I have to cover. Could lead to disastrous/hilarious/awesome results.

That is a cool idea, for sure! It doesn't even have to all be by one specific band. It could be one of our "Mixtape" compilations sometime. I think that'd be fun!

 

Really wanna try and get the rest of Mineral Girls in on this one but idek if we'd be able to get a cover ready and recorded in time. :\

 

I wonder if people are scared (for lack of a better word) to take on the big ones, like "Buddy Holly" or "Say It Ain't So" or "Undone" etc. Or maybe we all don't want to pick them because we suspected other people would? All I know is that both of those are true for me

 

I was thinking about doing "Say It Ain't So" early on. But I think "Put Me Back Together" is more my style, I think. And I can do a lot with it.

 

If you guys did a full Weezer cover, that'd be awesome. I would help with production if I could, but I have zero confidence that I could produce anything in the Mineral Girls style. Cozy Body had such a specific feel, and really everything Brett has done since It Looks Sad has.

Wayyyy before I was in the band they used to throw a portion of Tired Of Sex at the end of a song (can't remember which one though), so who knows.

 

I considered this but the cover on this album is so good that I couldn't imagine topping it. The same goes for Mock Orange's cover of Only in Dreams. Check it out if you haven't heard it.
