I'm excited to check out God Country when the first trade comes out.

Southern Bastards is one of my favorites but I'm pretty behind on it.

Paper Girls. Kill or Be Killed. Snot Girl.

I think those are the only ones I follow monthly now. Dropped Saga recently. Got some that I'm looking forward to checking out in trade eventually.

Still really need to read TW+TD, lol. Love the creative team and own the first two trades, but haven't sat down and read 'em yet. Got too many comics to choose from when in a reading mood.

The Wicked the Divine and East of West are ones I've been meaning to start for awhile. I'm sure I'll love them.

    Green Valley also kicks ass.

That book is weird for me. I love the Death storyline but have almost no interest in most of the countries.

The Wicked + The Divine and Sex Criminals are my 2 Image mainstays. Even if the story can sometimes meander with Sex Criminals, the art has so many jokes, the letters page and "Tips" are hysterical and a lot of the moments are so surprising and weird, it's one I will read until it ends no questions asked.

    Keep on the sunny side.

Just chiming in to comment on that Tim Sale conversation from a page back. The Peter/Gwen motorcycle page from Blue is one of my favorite pieces of comic book art ever.

Haven't picked up my pull from recent weeks yet, but while at Steel City Con yesterday, I picked up a couple things not on my pull: All-New Wolverine #19 (didn't return it to my pull yet after catching up, but will now), and X-Men: Gold #1.

Gold was a great continuation of what I loved about the Prime one-shot. So weird that I love this when I expected arguably the least from it, but Guggenheim is really off to a good start. Dig the mission statement (loosely reminds me of the start of Whedon's AXM), and especially like how these characters are being written. Not gonna add it to my pull, but gonna at least read it 'til Soule's Astonishing X-Men starts.

Also really dug ANW, though not much actually happened this issue besides setting up the story, without any significant information that wasn't revealed in interviews. The art is the best it's been since Lopez left after #6, though, so that was delightful to see. I don't like Laura's new outfit as much as her last one, but I still like it, and really dig Gabby's new costume. I'm down for whatever is coming next in this series.

Decided to add my two stacks of trades to the bookshelf today. This is everything minus what my friend has which is Saga 1-6, Doom patrol book 1, trees 1, wytches, and morning glories 1-2.

Not a big collection but I'd like to think it's a decent one. Also, I have no clue if the Batman and Flash books are actually in chronological order. I'm leaving that for a different day.

Love their run so much. Can honestly say I enjoyed Zero Year when reading it monthly, but it was so much better reading it all at once. by the time I got to the end of it monthly I had trouble remembering everything haha

So this Ardian Syaf thing is pretty damn crazy, huh? Marvel have not had the best of weeks.

For those unaware, Ardian Syaf, the Indonesian artist of X-Men Gold #1, snuck in some references to a local Indonesian protest that many characterize as anti-Christian.

Now, I don't know much about this, but what I was able to gather from news articles and G Willow Wilson is this:

Essentially, there is a Christian governor in Indonesia who spoke out about a particular Quaran verse being incorrectly used against him. The verse in question is often interpreted as commanding that no non-Muslim should be allowed to be a government leader. So, since the election of a Christian governor, Muslim hard liners have been vehemently opposed to him. After the governor spoke about the Quaran verse being misinterpreted against him, he was charged with blasphemy and is currently on trial for that crime. Even moderate Muslims in the area have seemingly turned against him, which resulted in a massive protest against the governor.

Anyway, Syaf is one of those who believes that the governor blasphemed and so he snuck references to that Quaran verse and to the massive protests into the art of X-Men Gold #1. Unfortunately for him, Indonesian readers noticed and started posting online. Which then lead to Bleeding Cool reporting on the situation, forcing Syaf to confirm that he had done it, and now Marvel is scrambling to remove the book and reprint it with altered art.

And this is on top of Marvel execs making statements like "diversity doesn't sell," etc. which did not sit well with many in the comic book world.

Trying to figure out a reading list so I can stop staring at my shelf not knowing what to read. Going to read that first trade of Rocket Raccoon for the GOTG write up, then I think I'll make my way through the rest of Unbeatable Squirrel Girl. I'm on issue 6 of the first 2015 run. Then I'll probably run through some of the smaller trades sitting on my shelf: Arkham Manor, Green Arrow: Year One, then Descender. That sounds like a decent start to me.

Also, I forgot that my friend has my copy of Arkham Asylum. I hadn't read that yet, so now I just want her to hurry up with it! Haha.

I was interested based on the Jim Lee cover art but the actual art was significantly worse so I probably won't bother.

I thought it was just kinda okay. I'll pick up the trades, but I don't love it.
