Minor life update since I've been a little disconnected for the last week it feels like:

1) mom and I now have a foreign exchange student from Italy living with us. She plays on one of the basketball teams my aunt and uncle's nonprofit sports organization has/attends the school my aunt works at. So I now have 16 year old sister until July. Something tells me she may be here until graduation though.

2) I worked 34 hours between Friday at 3:30pm and Sunday at 8:30pm, getting less than 9 hours of sleep in that time period at said basketball organization's fundraising basketball tournament. This will give me money for my oregon trip though so it's great.

3) I also got to watch all my cousins and my new sister all play really fun and exciting games at this tournament as opposed to last week's.

4) Somehow I unfollowed this thread in the last week and that made me update the threads I follow and that was helpful

 

Oh? And also fuck the foreign exchange student's former host family for kicking her out because she wants to play basketball and be a normal teenager.

Apparently everyone who has seen her said that in the one week she's been with us, she's become an entirely different person. Happy and dancing and being goofy. So great to know we're helping, even despite it making our lives more congested and both not having jobs. Like. There are more important things.

Indeed. The foreign exchange program was like, "if she doesn't have a home by Friday, she has to go back to italy" and she moved out on Thursday from the evil peeps and played in a basketball tournament on Fri/Sat and moved in with us at 1am Sunday morning. My mom got real protective and motherly so quick. "You are NOT sending that girl home." and got a list of her favorite foods. I love my Mom.

 

This confirms there are still great people in the world

 

My aunt sent the snarkiest of emails to the people involved this weekend. It was beautiful.

 

NFG was really fun honestly. Crowd is god awful of course, a lot of annoying people, but overall I enjoyed it. I do think they need to add a touring guitarist, it's weird just having Chad try to compensate for missing a guitar player

 

I need a new family :(
