  1. Well I guess I hate it because it's a constant thing on California. It further shows why Feldman just isn't a good producer.

  2. Also, I feel like if they let Matt do more writing on the next album it'd be a home run.

  3. i guess we'll see with this deluxe album, since Matt was more involved with the writing, if our sources are correct. haha.

Yes, I agree with all of that. I've said all that several times as well, but my post was mostly made because people will say "They used them before and no one complained!" as a defense when you give them an explanation of why the Na Na's are negative....but that's not a legitimate argument, IMO.

Yeah the Na Nas are okay when they feel like they belong. Blink only ever used them on two songs per album max in the past so it feels weird when every song has them

  6. Right, for sure! Telling people to not complain about the Na Na's since "All The Small Things" did it misses the point entirely. The real problem is not the na na's themselves, but the overuse of them.

Is Misery the only song from the California era without NaNas or Woahs so far? I was trying to think of others and I am failing. Maybe Cynical

Also pretty much the only one with a prominent riff

Let's hold our breath until we disappear

Doesn't Misery have some oh's in the bridge? Kinda the same thing haha.

Eh it's actually used as the melody for the background of the bridge(it continues through the whole bridge and makes up the background behind mark). I don't count Ohs as the same

I love the use of the Ohs in the bridge for Bored to Death.

  18. i do too. i wish it didn't go back into that part at the end though, although i love the musical buildup of the ending.

Me too, actually. That song goes back to what I said about it being a novelty thing. When we first heard the Oh's in "Bored to Death", we liked them because it was the first song we had heard. If "Bored to Death" would have been the last song we got to hear, we would have said "God damn these Oh's!!!" haha.

    Amateur Hour

    Cynical - whoas
    BTD - whoas
    SOHM - whoas
    L.A. - ooohs
    Sober - Na na na
    BTP -joke
No future - na na na
    HISALP - Nothing!
KOTW - Actually has some riffs!
    T.S. Whoas
    Left Alone - Whoas
    Rabbit Hole - Oohs
    San Diego - Whoas
    TOTTM - Whoas
California - Whoa AND na na na
    BR. Joke.

That's TWO songs out of 14 non jokes that don't have whoas and nas. You have to admit that it's fucking overkill.

I love Matt's whoas in BTD and Left Alone while Mark sings over the top of it so it's not a hatred of the concept. If it was just in those 2 songs I don't think jerks like me would whine so much.

While it might be a bit overkill, at least they aren't recycling riffs and trying to pass it off as new music as a certain former member of the band tried to do. Blink is a top 3 favorite band of mine, but their lyrics have never blown me away. For me at least, it has always been about the instrumentation and that is what I love about California the most. Even if the lyrics aren't top notch, I love just about every single song insturmentally, and that is crazy considering I only really liked half of Neighborhoods.

Just found myself thinking how i'd love for them to throw This is Home into the set...

I'd also like to hear some other songs from Neighborhoods. I think maybe they could take off live.

  24. I'm still bummed they haven't played "Rabbit Hole" live. I blame Reddit.

I wasn't too big a fan of it when it was released, but there's no doubt it'd be fun live.
