Totally on the same page with you, the reffing has been pretty questionable tonight.

They are 2-0 with him out of the lineup.

but that was about what I expect from this series.

well the night ended well. what a weird game though, the first two periods were so stressful even though edmonton was totally out shooting the sharks.

Those 2 games were against Vancouver, and they werent even strong, convincing wins...More importantly, we are 2-8 in our last 10 games against playoff bound teams. Those 2 wins were against teams we would have to see in the finals to even play against them in the playoffs. Haley is not the issue. Jones is having a worse season than Niemi ever did in SJ, but has a better Sharks D in front of him than Niemi ever had, and league scoring is down this year. He has 2 shutouts. He had that many in our first 3 games last year. Our top guys are not scoring like they need to. PavelskI has 1 goal in those 10 games you are blaming Haley for. Yeah he might not be scoring, but if you think for a second that Nurse, Kassian, Lucic, or Maroon won't start taking runs at our guys in the playoffs with Haley off the ice, youre crazy. Whos gonna stick up for our guys? Dillon? Lol. Maybe we should be talking about Donskoi's 2 points in his last 18 games. Or Hertl's 4 points in his last 18. Or Jumbo having his worst year since he was a teenager. The list of the Sharks problems goes on and on, but yeah, let's put this on a guy who sees 8 minutes of ice per game. We could swap him out for meier. But wait, he has half as many points as Haley this year.

Long story short, Haley's not the best player in the league, but his presence has a purpose, and he isn't the reason we are losing games.

 

Jones will stand on his head and the sharks will find a way to win a series, after that I feel that they will be made easy work of. Excited to do my bracket this year though

I honestly think if that McDavid trip early on in the game last night would've been called, the whole vibe of that first period would've been different and it would've been a blow out. But we will never actually know so, useless speculation.

I gave up on this after reading about his shitty ass purpose being to protect players when you complain about us needing people to score.

If you kept reading you'd see I mention that the only option to replace haley, would be meier, who scores less than haley. Way to go!

 

I fully realize that Haley isn't the sole problem on the Sharks but he is one small problem that leads to even more problems.

The Sharks have just been a team that can't score at all. It's basically been like 3 or 4 guys doing all the score. If the Sharks tried to give the depth the best opportunity to scores, maybe that would help the top 6 with pressure to not need to score. Haley isn't a scorer and you admitted that but he also isn't the type of person to create any really good chances.

The Sharks are also hurting themselves by playing Haley because he doesn't play any PK time compared to other bottom sixers. It also hurts more when Haley gets in fight and having to use more of the top players who are a lot older to cover those times when he plays 7 minutes a game.

The Sharks are an old team that instead of trying to use the young players as much as possible, tend to prefer the usage of veterans even if they aren't even significantly better.

 

He has more goals than Haley in 20 less games played and you can't even act like Haley scored more because one was a fluke own goal by Eichel.

 

also yeah I know Jones has been bad this year and that sucks. I've always said though that Jones is an average goalie that could sometimes be above average.

It also doesn't help that Vlasic/Braun pairing are having the worst year defensively especially when they get all the toughest matchups.

I see all the problems with the Sharks. I know it's just a bunch of small problems that hurt them in the long run. I didn't even talk about how bad the PP is. I just pick on Haley the most because hey even trying to fix one smaller problem can help.

 

Alright then we are on the same page lol. I just keep seeing people everywhere blaming haley. But really meier isn't going to be any more effective. He's just not putting it together yet. 3g 3a in 33 games is not even close to what is expected of a top 10 pick. Yeah he will figure it out in due time, but for the time being he is any more helpful than Haley, and neither is sorensen, or donskoi, or even lebanc to an extent. He's gone pretty cold aside from his goal the other night. The only other option is Goodrow, who has had nhl time and isn't that good either. So, the scoring needs to be figured out by the depth guys already in the lineup, and haley will keep doing his thing. But when we lose to the oilers in the 1st round, it's not going to be his fault at all. I'm eagerly waiting for our capitan to start leading, instead of just floating around waiting for jumbo passes, and falling down every 2 seconds. For the record I never thought pavs was suitable to be capitan. Should've gone to Couture IMO

 

That's the problem is these younger guys don't need to be scoring all the time. They just need to be generally outshoot the weak Oilers depth and eventually goals will come. Goals are such a random event that just giving yourself the more chances to score will get a goal. These younger guys are a lot more creative than Haley and bring a lot more speed to the lineup.

I put all the blame on Deboer for constantly looking for a third person to go with the Joes and failing constantly. It also doesn't help that the Sharks literally only rely on ether a Pavelski tip or a Burns slap shot.

Cool. Thanks for explaining your side a little better than just "haley sux lol". I appreciate that and can see where youre coming from. You'd be surprised how many people legit think that haley is our biggest issue. It's absurd. Anyways, here's to hoping we miraculously pull it together and take down the oilers or possibly even the ducks in round 1!

 

It'll be the ultimate blown lead. At least this season.

I still don't think we're gonna make it, but with home ice settled in the PIT/CBJ series, hopefully they both phone it in extra hard against us.

I think mine would be Babcock(winner), Torts, Quennville.
