I actually think it's one of the times in the album the whoa's work. I enjoy them there.

I would in the same breathe argue the only time I like the na na's (sigh) is in Sober. That should be the ONLY time we hear them.

It's unfortunately fake. Same guy that put it out there also faked AvA Dream Walker tracks before it's release to "troll xD" people. I caught him lying 3 different times with "tom put it on Facebook and then deleted it", "a friend works for their label and recorded it off his phone at a meeting about new material" and "heard them perform this at a sound check so I recorded it". Wish it was real

I think the Na Na's fit in that song. I always did like that song a lot. They don't fit in Parking Lot, unfortunately. And I love so much about that song.

No Future is really the only song I thought Na Nas were unnecessary. Now they aren't the weakest aspect of the song, I don't hate them. I think those sections just make the song a bit too long.

They literally just repeat the hook melody. Super bland.

See it's funny because I view the exact opposite. I think they add to the song and the song is the perfect length lol. That's the beauty of music though I guess; one mans boon is another mans bane

I revisited untitled after not having listened to that record for a long time, and holy shit is that record glorious. I enjoy some of the stuff that they put out now, but blink will unfortunately never hit that peak again.

  16. What the fuck is the point of Na Na's in songs ?

Probably because Feldmann didn't produce it.

In reality...nothing. But for the here and now, it's because of a super, mega hit single from nearly 20 years ago that only happened because Tom couldn't think of actual lyrics, haha.

    We don't need them anymore!

I stated this before, but I think it's just as simple as things losing their novelty.

When you write one song with a lot of Na Na's as the hook, it might work. When you do it again and again years later, it's no longer a fresh idea. The technique isn't inherently bad, but vocalizing melodies like that is associated with being "filler" if it's used over and over again.

This is why I don't like when people say "Stop complaining about the Na Na's. No one complained when they did it in 'All the Small Things'". There's a reason for that.

  23. They have had other songs with Na Na's too, like "The Party Song" for example. I think the main complaint is that there are Woah's and Na Na's on just about every song on California, when they don't really bring anything to the song. It stops being sing-alongy and just becomes a buzz word. It's like they're using them to just fill in empty spots on the songs, which is a bummer because the songs would probably benefit more with some breathing room. It's like the vocals never end on California. There's very few moments where the music speaks for itself.

That is one thing I enjoyed about Tom's writing. More melodic.

  25. Did anyone else see that they're playing Sturgis SD this August? Funny seeing them pop up at these random events (rodeos, etc)
