What happened at the end of that episode again?

 

Okay, three more down and all were incredible.

6: How did Regina King and/or Carrie Coon not win all the awards for this? I loved seeing the two sides of guilt and sadness, Erika blaming the disappearance on her wish on the bird and the struggle of losing a child and Nora finding the explanation of her being a "lens" where all these bad occurrences follow her. Erika's outburst at the fundraiser was deserved for all the grief and shit the character has gone through this season and I liked seeing someone point out the insanity of some of the town's habits. The Laurie call to Nora was my big "WHAT?" moment of the episode. Where's Tommy? What's going on with Laurie? I wish those two had a larger presence this season. The showdown between Erika and Nora towards the end is one of my favorite scenes of the series so far - tense, flawlessly acted and filmed and framed perfectly with the tight camera angles and focus on just the two women's faces. Kevin's confession at the end was sort of a long time coming after his promise to be open at the start of the season (though telling someone you're seeing a vision of a dead woman is understandably difficult, even in the supernatural tinged world of this show) but was a nice bit of acting.

7: As already stated...THAT GODDAMN ENDING. WHAT? I'll get back to that... Kevin losing the woman he though he could trust was heartbreaking even if she deservedly feels the need to get some space after last episode's confession. I'm glad we're dealing with Ghost Patti, Virgil's proposed solution of dying and solving the problem in the afterlife is out there (but also good to have an explanation regarding the cinderblock incident), to say the least. But I'm willing to go along with it! I liked them putting the pieces together regarding John's previous imprisonment and that scene in the fire station was gripping and I expect the handprint will come into play in a big way in the last few. The reunion between Laurie and Kevin was so satisfying after all this time but man, I just really want to see what happened to Tommy. I gather Laurie and Tommy had an argument regarding the authenticity of Tommy's "act" but still. I must know soon! Okay so, the ending. So he's doing it, he's actually going along and going to die in order to rid himself of Patti. Okay, cool..WAIT WHY IS HE SHOOTING HIMSELF WHAT THE FUCK? Michael dragging the body away...was his argument with Virgil involving this, did he know his grandfather's plan? All I know is I'm glad I didn't have to wait 7 days to find out.

8: The much hyped episode here and it 100% delivered. It's pretty ballsy to devote an entire episode to a character being an assassin in an afterlife hotel but wow, they sure did pull it off. I have a little apprehension about the fact there are only two episodes left and a lot for the show to potentially cover with the show's pacing (Tommy? Laurie and Jill? The continued investigation into the disappearance and the handprint? What the hell is going on with Meg? Matt and Mary? So much!) but this show is one of the best things on TV at this point, it'll all be fine I'm sure. This episode was well paced, exciting and kept me glued to the TV and guessing how this all would end up. I had no idea where the show would go after last week's ending but I sure did not expect this. Seeing some of these dead characters again was a bit of a shock (reminded me a bit of the flashes of Lost S6), as was the little crazy spy movie-esque story of adult Patti saying she was a plastic surgery altered decoy. A little bit of a mouth drop realizing the man in the hallway was Neil and that everyone (some?) people realize that they're in an afterlife in that hotel and then again when the little girl was revealed to be Patti. Incredible scene at the bottom of the well, Patti's story was heartbreaking and although this might (?) be the last I'll see of Ann Dowd in this show, she really helped make what could have been a hokey concept of haunting ghost really work - almost a bit of a shame she went most of an entire season without saying a word. Then Kevin wakes up! It worked? I guess I'll see! What an insane, brilliant episode. I almost forgot about Kevin's father too, what the hell is up with that?

Side note: Australian man on the bridge, perhaps the man who crosses over but doesn't die and the same man the man in the tower wrote a letter too (since he also went through this process)? Hmm.

This fucking show. The week waits when I actually follow the third season are going to destroy me, I just know it.

That shot where Regina King throws the rock through the window is the best moment of the series IMO

 

Damon Lindelof On What We Can Expect From 'The Leftovers' Final Season

 

Almost done with my series re-watch and just finished International Assassin as well. It's like its own little movie within the show, so good. Never thought I'd get so emotional listening to a story about Jeopardy.

Also, I'm once again reminded that Justin Theroux is ripped in ways I didn't even know you could be ripped. Unbelievable.

 

Indiewire has a glowing review of the last season overall, giving it an A+

The Leftovers Is Going Out on a High Note

I didn't know Justin went to the ER every season of the Leftovers lol. He mentioned breaking his nose and finger in seasons 1 and 2 but didn't say what this third recent injury was

 

This is getting absolutely rave reviews!!!!!!

 

I'm trying to not get my hopes up, but i fully expect this will be so good that Trump and all of the republicans in Congress, the statehouses, and the conservatives on the Supreme Court will decide to just walk into the ocean together.

 

This season is going to be a let down. Incoherent, messy, plot holes, and a really unsatisfying ending

Do we get a new intro in the first episode or does it usually start on the second?

 

I just rewatched all of season two this week and there's so many things I didn't notice. Some that may be serious spoilers for next season so I'll leave those out, but then also about Australia, where the next season will be taking place. When Kevin goes to the Hotel and sees Virgil, the guy on Jarden's bridge and in his next death is Australian. Obv the his dad TV thing early on. And also when Kevin was looking for the well, Virgil asks if he means "the caverns." I wonder what in Australia will involve the caverns. Should be cool. Also, when I was young, I'm not religious but my uncle was a Russian pastor. I'm finding myself looking up bible verses more often now than I did back then, mostly because they may be hints as to what the next season will bring.

I hope that the new opening is something like season 1. Instrumental and urgent yet will give us a clue about the theme of the season.
