The transition from RIP to Transmission was awesome.

Been binging on these guys again. Their new album was good upon first listen, but it grew on me with more listens. I am happy they made something like 'Lift a Sail' too. It is such a beautiful album with some awesome heavy riffs.

Paper Walls will forever have my heart though. It is my 4th all time favorite album.

Just listened to s/t front to back after a couple months... still amazing. It's too sad they decided to end the band, but I'm also happy they went out with a bang.

I keep trying to listen to other bands, but I just keep wanting to listen to YC again and again instead :( Also When We're Old Men is an underrated deep cut

  8. When it came out I was like yeah this great but it'll probably never be my favorite YC record. And now honestly I think front to back it makes a strong case for being my favorite YC record

Also Brad still  you but you gotta get on that

Same... I've been substituting Big If in the meantime. Damn it.

Edit: What the hell at that acoustic version of What Appears. Where did that come from!?

  10. Wasn't it a target bonus track or something? Pretty sure it and The Hurt got the acoustic treatment

Self titled is my third or fourth favorite by them. Still a great record, but it doesn't have quite the cohesion that their best work does, and "I'm a Wrecking Ball" is kind of a dud.

RIP, What Appears, Got Yours, A Place We Set Afire, Empty Street, and a little Fields and Fences are the only tracks I listen to from the S/T album. Everything else just kinda drags on and on. Songs are too long on the album. But the songs I listen to regularly are absolutely killer to me.

I liked that song when the album came out, but now I think it's the most boring song on the record. I mean, it's still a good song, but it just interrupts the flow a little bit for me, especially when it's followed by a fast track like Savior's Robes and then by another slow tune like Fields and Fences. The album overall is still great though, and I would say it's just behind Southern Air and WYTTSY in my list (maybe Paper Walls too, but that's a close call).

Southern Air and Paper Walls are neck and neck for me. Self titled is probably third, but Lift a Sail and Ocean Avenue are also very close.

    Hot ass take

I like LaS more than the S/T I think

If LaS didn't stumble for its first third, I think it would easily be better.

i disagree but i TOTALLY get why some feel that way. Craig has also said something similar. I cant deny that the album really gets going around Illuminate

I'm not jazzed about much of it before Fragile and Dear, though Convocation is an excellent intro and I remember One Bedroom more fondly than I remember now that I'm thinking about it. I suppose Make Me So is a decent tune too, but the first two proper songs on the record have always felt like a bit of a chore to get through.

yeah Transmission Home and Crash The Gates are good alt rock songs, but I get why someone wouldnt be into them

I think Make Me So is the worst song in their whole discography. The chorus in particular always makes me cringe with those "why-y-y-y". The first two songs are decent and have good guitar riffs, although I generally find them a bit boring. The real gems on that record are the title track and MSK in my opinion. California is a very good closer also, quite different from their usual closers.

Yeah, I think Make Me So is up there with Two Weeks From Twenty for one of their worst. Also agree with Lift a Sail, the rest of the album could be silence and it'd still be a good album because of it.

I'll write you into all of my songs Supporter

There's a good number of songs on Lights & Sounds that are worse than Make Me So. But Make Me So is definitely in the bottom quarter of their discography
