Fang of Ir-Yut is still a really good gun in PVE, and the adept version is going to replace Zhalo Supercell as my go-to primary in arc burn activities, most likely.

Definitely. You want to get as many of those exotic primaries as you can. Also, with the recent auto rifle buffs, the Abyss Defiant is way better now than it ever has been. I'd say Word of Crota is the worst one now, honestly.

 

Word of Crota should be fairly useful in the first segment and the Atheon encounter in VoG with all the minotaurs.

 

Honestly, I'm going to be using either my Swordbreaker or my void-rolled Quantiplasm on the praetorians. I might keep the word on hand in case I run out of shotgun ammo, but I'm sticking with one of those for the majority of the encounter. Probably will use my void Ex Machina in the Atheon encounter, or at least a void machine gun and Black Spindle.

 

Apparently the changes to the VoG mechanics are already live in the old version of the raid. Looks like it's going to be a bit harder during the Oracles, because they spawn faster and in different locations, and a lot harder at the Templar, because you now have to kill all the oracles while trying to take him down or else you wipe. That. Sucks.

 

Vault is actually the raid I know the least. I'm excited to revist it tho. I think the last time I went in there I was helping @GettingSodas and his group beat it

 

I never played VoG until between House of Wolves and Taken King, so I never did it any other way than what turned out to be cheese ways, like the endless cleansing during Templar. Hell, I never even went down for the Oracles until everyone was so over-leveled that they and the adds were easy to kill/survive being killed by. They essentially are forcing us to play the encounters the way they were designed, which is both a good and bad thing.

Makes me wonder if they did anything to make it so that you can't 1-orb Golgoroth anymore. That would really suck.

 

I can do golgoroth blindfolded at this point haha. My only concern is if they fixed the cheese hole

 

I was the cheese hole guy both times I did that part of the raid, so If they fix that then I actually need to learn how to do it haha.

Templar Challenge

Block the teleport by standing in the rings. Use the relic holder on the left ring because it is more exposed and because of the shield, and drop a bubble over the right ring (or over both rings, if you have enough bubbles) while everyone else burns him with as much damage as possible. The oracles will mark you and you can't cleanse the mark, so make sure you also take those out.

Atheon Challenge

During every damage phase, only one oracle can be killed per player. Strategy seems to be: Open the gates, three get teleported, other three hold open the correct gate, three already in kill one oracle each (relic holder super kills oracles in one hit), two without the relic leave as soon as they kill their individual oracles, as one rotates out, another rotates in, making sure there is always one person holding open the gate. This is going to be an LFG nightmare.

 

I wish I had a standard raid team. Sadly, last night I remembered why LFG sucks. Its impossible to find a team that doesn't either have an asshole, or some annoying squeakers. I did Crota last night, but it was hardly fun because our "leader" was a prick. We didn't end up finishing but I at least got a Oversoul Edict [Adept], Swordbreaker, and Chest piece from from Ir-Yut.

 

Anyone on PS4 that wants to raid VoG tonight stress-free (well, stress-free from the group, not from the raid lol) let me know. I want to get at least one run in tonight, because I need me some of that sweet, sweet VoG loot.

Sounds good. Depending on when I get home from the gym later I should be ready to go around 6:30-7:00 eastern. Don't know what time zone you're in but if it's on the west coast I can wait until later in the night.

 

Whoof. That was an ordeal last night. Took me several hours to get one run done. Groups just are. not. getting. it. Templar alone took forever because people kept dying to adds on the right side. Found a strategy I really liked but it requires a specific group composition. Essentially, you need three titans with bubbles. Two titans cover the left teleport spot and the other four people cover the right spot. Have two hunters in the group as well, one for tethering the adds and one for tethering the boss. Wait until everyone in the fireteam has full heavy (preferably Gjallarhorn so you can fire it and forget it) and a synth ready to use immediately after firing all rockets at the boss. Everyone should be carrying shotguns in their special, preferably void shotguns for minotaurs. The flow goes:

1. Have the sixth fireteam member (preferably a self-res warlock) pick up the relic
2. Kill the oracles
3. Take down the shield

4. When he tries to teleport to the left, have a titan drop a bubble over the spot and then unload all their rockets on the boss
5. Once all the rockets have been fired, that titan blocks a teleport if needed and then switches with their partner, who has also fired all their rockets, and goes to help clear adds on the right
6. The second left titan pops their bubble as soon as the first bubble bursts and then tells the first left titan to switch back
7. Second left titan goes to help clear adds on the right, and repeat as long as needed

4. Relic holder stands in the spot next to the ring platform where you can block the teleport without exposing yourself, make sure you don't crouch or it won't work and use the relic shield if you start getting hurt by adds
5. Titan on the right drops a Blessings bubble between the relic holder and where the adds spawn
6. The three people without the relic on the right need to then strike a balance between add clearing and shooting rockets at the boss
7. Hunter 1 shoots tether at the boss at the beginning of the damage phase once everyone is free from their containment fields, Hunter 2 saves the tether for adds, especially when the group starts getting overrun by Minotaurs
8. The hope is that, with five people each shooting 10-12 Gjallarhorns (depending on if you have rocket ammo boots) at the boss with one tether, the boss will be melted faster than the adds get overwhelming.

As for Atheon, it's all about callouts and awareness. When you kill your oracle, immediately get out of the time gate. Two of the three non-teleported players should immediately enter the gate and kill their oracle, the last person waits until the first person leaves the time gate. Relic holder should kill the adds in the time gate and immediately stand next to the gate with the cleanse; this also makes it easy for the relic holder to do a quick R2 on one of the oracles that spawns near the gate. Once Time's Vengeance is activated, the optimal setup is two tethers and a weapons bubble in the back; so long as you have this and five people with Sleeper SImulant, it's possible to one-phase Atheon (I did it last night in one phase).

Also, PSA: the New Monarchy Auto Rifle is a PVP god roll in the Doctrine archetype (High-Caliber Rounds, Perfect Balance, Counterbalance - Buy This Gun) and the Crucible sniper is essentially a PVE god roll (Short Gaze, Triple Tap, Casket Mag, Hidden Hand).

 

Ran VOG CM twice last week and got a shit ton of guns, but only the helmet and cloak :( I got both fatebringers, both atheon's epilogue, both vision of confluence, adept timepiece, praedyths revenge sniper, the shotgun, and the rocket launcher.


King's Fall is this week and I'm gonna run the shit out of this raid I love it so much. If anyone in here needs someone on PS4 to run with for their group invite me plz PSN: dylanagibson . I am more than happy to help 1st timers or groups unfamiliar with the mechanics as long as you're high enough light and have a few "required" weapons (black spindle (warpriest and golgoroth) and sleeper/gjallerhorn (ogres at oryx)). let's go!

 

I dropped in on the Templar checkpoint last night and we barely got him down a little under half after 15 or so tries. ;-;

Hopefully I can run Kings Fall this week.

You can still get Black Spindle, correct? I never got it.

 

Yes, now you can just select the story mission from the director and change the difficulty to heroic and run it. A friend of mine ran it with some clan members about 10 times and they said if you're ~390-400 it should be cake (compared to how it was when it first came out) as long as you're coordinated.

 

When I did Templar it was with 4 people who hadn't done it yet and we did it first try. It was insanely easy.

 

We did templar in about 2 tries, had the relic runner as a self-res warlock, and then everyone else was in the back center with a weapons bubble and tethers with sleepers and snipers. I think start to finish it was like less than 2 minutes.

 

Did King's Fall last night. Our old usual group could do Hard Mode challenges back in Y2 in about 45-50 minutes. This one had two people we picked up in the time since then, and it took just over 2 hours with all challenges and the increased light. Not too bad. There were a few small mechanic and helpful tips that we had forgotten about until we got to them, but overall it was smooth and super fun and I was so stoked to run it again. Warpriest took us the longest of any of the challenges. We only wiped once on Golgoroth and twice on Oryx, one was due to a lag on one persons end. I'm ready to run it again and again and again

 

I have no idea what was going on with the groups I was in last night. I was playing for almost two hours and couldn't even get past Warpriest. I just gave up and went to play Yooka-Laylee instead. So frustrating.

 

Bummer! Were you doing LFG I'm assuming? I'm guessing the aura killers kept missing ads?
