My grandma died last night (expected) soooooooo now I have two days until the funeral to sit at home doing absolutely nothing (except watch wrestling probably) because my car has expired inspection and might fail. I slowed down from like, 50 to 30 literally the second I crossed the NY/NJ state line and I've never driven more carefully than the 5 minutes I drove in NJ

Procedurals only seem to work when the police/murder aspect is in the background as an excuse to explore many themes, to cover many genres, and to break many conventions. Psych did it well with comedy, musical, horror, espionage, and others I fail to remember. IZombie is doing a great job reminding me of this show, though it has its own universe and is way different as well. Person Of Interest basically said fuck it, went full sci fi at one point and then did some of the most out there stuff I've seen on TV, which changed my whole perception on this genre. I'm sure I'm forgetting some shows, but yeah, my only point was that procedurals are awesome if done well.

 

I admit some of the most controversial (in the sense that you either hate them or love them I think) procedurals made me cry at times. Cold Case has its share of superb episodes, yet at the same time others that make me think "what the hell were the writers thinking ?" Some of the most "inspired by reality" episodes of SVU are awful, like totally off and inappropriate.

 

would probably me if I were older I guess, judging by my tastes. I didn't have the chance to watch Twin Peaks, Seinfeld, The Simpsons' glory days, Curb Your Enthusiasm and The Wire when they were all on air.

I plan to read the Graphic Novels of iZombie first for sure, so that's making me a bit hesitant to start.

I definitely agree though there are some awful procedurals
