I mean to be fair a professor isn't necessarily a teacher and that's not necessarily a bad thing BUT I do think if a student pursues you with questions and such, you should be responsive yeah

It seems like the issue isn't just me at least. Other students have been sending out mass emails about not having the exam. Its not going up today, and if it does and its still expected tonight I'm going to blow a gasket.

I get that teaching online is hard because you don't get the one on one with the student, but failing to do any work is pretty awful. He has to look at Blackboard literally like once a week and occasionally check throughout the day for the mid term and can't even do that.

I think professors should be teachers though, that's what bothers me

If you're lucky enough to get a fucking college-level teaching job in 2017, you should be required to take some basic-ass education courses. The quality of a professor goes beyond just your college experience, it can influence your entire perception of a field and whether you "belong" in it or not.

I disagree there. I think teachers are super valuable and underrated but that after a point it's a lot more valuable to have someone who can point you in a direction and you do most of the work yourself. I think this is especially true with the way k12 public education has turned education into more of a numbers game than it is about learning. Which isn't the teachers fault but regurgitating bs isn't useful to anyone. I think the idea of someone who isn't necessarily a teacher is a good way to reset the whole regurgitation thing if you haven't yet found something you're passionate about

There's room for both is mostly what I mean but the meaning of both roles changes a lot

Man, that's fucking bullshit. You know a bunch of people put all their plans on hold all day just for that test lol

Exam was supposed to be Saturday, its Monday now and he has not done a damn thing. No responses, no explanation, and its highly doubtful that he even knows that the mid term didn't work. My classmates are sending out mass emails speculating that it was an April Fools prank, but in reality our professor is just a moron.

  13. ~12 hours until this paper is due and I've written half of it which is goddamned incredible for me

Sounds like you're in a good place mate. How long does the paper ought to be?

  15. Just six pages and it's something I'm actually interested in. I might try to use this as a writing sample for an internship though which is why I'm not just dashing it off at the last minute haha

Writing most of a paper ~12 hours before it's due isn't what I would consider last minute either. Says a lot about our work habits. What are you writing about?

  17. It isn't what I would normally consider last minute either but I'm trying really fucking hard to not be that guy anymore. Too much unnecessary stress.

Shelby County v. Holder. I see you're from Canada but that's the Supreme Court decision that struck down part of the Voting Rights Act a few years back and in some ways made it easier for southern states to keep minorities from voting

Sweet! I'm writing a media law exam tomorrow morning and discovered through that class that I have an interest in court cases beyond Judge Judy so that sounds really cool

Cool paper topic. Real interested in watching judges bend over backwards to try to rationalize their reasoning on voter suppression in the South. I remember when I turned 18 a couple of years ago I registered to vote months in advance and conveniently my voter ID card confirming my registration didn't show up til after voting was finished.

my midterm paper for one class was a group project and we all actually did everything we said we were going to do and turned it in a day before it was due. i wanted to cry, i was so happy to be in a group with people who do shit.

Yeah that's never happened to me but I have multiple times done a whole project myself

in my experience, group projects got a lot easier/cooperative once I got in more upper level classes. But I've also had a lot of professors make me stick with the same group/partner for the whole semester so that probably helps

Group projects in college are bullshit imo. I work full time dude, when the hell am I supposed to do this shit?! I go back to school on Monday from spring break and I have a group project due on Tuesday.
