I used to be PIG DESTROYER

If anyone dug mine, be sure to go listen again. I didn't consider what was on here for the last 2 days the complete cover as there were a few things that I ran out of time on and really bothered me. It's now complete in my eyes and Brad graciously uploaded the new one. Thanks again Brad!

These MCS songs are awesome, loving it.
As for me, I'll be waiting for a Dashboard, City and Colour or (unlikely) Bright Eyes comp before I contribute :P

May have to miss the Weezer comp due to being a little behind on my current music project, and in math. :brokenheart:

I have no time to even pick up my guitar in the last 6 months so I've avoided this thread. But if you're doing a Weezer comp I'm 100% jumping in on that! I'd definitely want to do Angel and the One.

  15. I use a Line 6 UX1 for my line-in interface and use Podfarm 2.0 (comes free with the interface) to shape a basic tone. From there, I just record into GarageBand!

Drums are fake, all singular drum samples found online, and then I just paste each drum where I need it to hit.

As far as actual gear goes, that's kind of a different story. I actually do have some pretty good stuff in that department. lots of pedals to further craft my tones, and a couple of guitars to choose from. No bass though! I actually craft a bass tone using my Les Paul an an octave pedal.

My mic is nice, not really meant for recording, but I won it in a contest and it's all I've got so I work with it haha. It's an AKG D7.

    Somebody's gonna miss us Supporter

Idk how to make a recommendation, but I'd love to hear a The Starting Line compilation.

  17. The Starting Line has been thrown around before here. I think that would be fun! I've also suggested doing a Drive Thru Records compilation where we just cover old DTR bands, and TSL would definitely be a band to throw into that mix.

Man, that sounds super tedious. I don't think I could do it. I use a midi kit, so I just have access to every hit without needing to copy and paste around. haha What samples do you use though, just out of curiosity?

  19. The Starting Line is my favorite band, I feel like I'd drive myself nuts narrowing down a single song to cover hahaha

  20. I do my drums the same way, I think. I use Propellerhead Reason, and I have to program in each drum hit from scratch. Same with the bass guitar. It's definitely the thing that takes the longest in my process, but it's a lot of fun when it all comes together in the end.

  21. You know, everyone always says that, but I don't mind it at all! The majority of the time is spent figuring out what kind of dynamic I want. After that, the process is super quick, and any editing later on is just s click away! That's not to say I would't mind a midi kit though, that sounds like a lot of fun to record with.

The samples aren't specific to any one program or website. Literally the results of google searches like "snare sample" and "ride bell sample". Then I picked the ones I liked the most and made a kit out of them! Put in the time to do it one night like four or five years ago and have used the same samples since!

Man, I remember having to do that with Cellos and Violins for the longest time. I got Kontakt sometime last year though, so I've been using that since for piano, drums, bass, strings, clarinet... etc. and it's been easier. Basically, the only "real" instruments in my songs are guitar and ukulele (and my ass voice).

That's crazy! I guess if it works for you though, it's good. I think I'd mostly go crazy because I obsess over the drum fills, and try and have the drums have little changes each measure for dynamics. It's a lot easier to keep track of that stuff when it's all right there on one easy to edit track. It's always interesting to see how other people who do kind of low budget at home recordings do it though.

  23. Yup, guitar and vocals are all that's real in my tracks too! I'd love to get an actual bass guitar sometime though to record with.

I technically could do live bass, but it is the hardest thing for me to record for some reason. My mic doesn't mic the amp well, and plugging straight into my mixing board makes it sound super muddy. Something I need to figure out since I have to record live bass for a band in the next couple months.

  25. We just hit 3,000 plays!
