Pretty much known that Bama CBs stink in the NFL.

Who was the last good one....Kareem Jackson, probably?

Dre Kirkpatrick actually, they've only had one in the 1st since then though ; which is a little surprising.

Howard is gonna be the most overdrafted TE ever. Give me Hunter Henry from last year in round two over him in mid-to-early round 1

And you'll have an inferior tight end lol. Vernon Davis went sixth overall. Howard MAY got sixth but likely will be in the mid first round. That's perfectly reasonable for a prospect as complete as Howard is.

Kirkpatrick hasn't been all that great though has he? I really wanted the Eagles to draft him coming out but I don't think he's been anything more than average (maybe slightly above?)

fuck Vernon Davis i dont know what you want me to say hahaha

Greg Olsen - 31st overall. I think Hunter Henry has similar potential. Some of the best Tight Ends are 3rd round converted basketball players that took a few years to groom. Even Tyler Eifert at 21 is a lot better than drafting Jaye Howard in the top 10. That's just stupid expectations, like, he BETTER be Tony Gonzalez at that point.

Never forget the dumb ass Lions drafting Ebron at 10.

    Sigh

Man, remember that time you ranted for months about how people were wrong because they let position dictate draft value?

i remember saying that about runningbacks specifically. This trend of using several different later-round runningbacks is a fad that only very good spread passing offensive schemes are actually successful with. The league has been shifting back away from that, it's not even a 10-year old trend and already we are seeing teams focus on one superback again.

I EASILY thought Ezekiel Elliott and Leonard Fournette were worth top 10 picks because of the way they can 1) take time of possession away from the other offense, keeping your defense fresh and energized 2) wear down the other defense 3) take pressure off your QB and make it harder to expect short passes 4) set up play action 5) create big plays out of what were supposed to be short 3-5 yard gains 6) churn out 6 yards on tough first downs and make 2nd and 3rd down easier, etc. etc. etc.

A true workhorse runningback does so much for your offense, and has always been so vital to the NFL, that it's downright stupid to say that you wouldn't ever take a runningback with a high pick. That's like saying you'd rather lose your queen first in a chess match. Next to a quarterback the runningback has the most influence on the flow of the game between the two teams.

A tight end literally cannot match that value.

You said that about safeties as well haha.

it's remarkable how few competitive teams have a bad safety at either safety position. Though it's easier to find a good box safety than a good coverage safety so i do shy away from drafting SS that early, yeah.

Those coverage specialist safeties are worth it just because they are scarce and hard to find but every team needs one. There's hardly ever even 20 of those in the whole league so if you can draft one it's usually worth it. Hence why I think Malik Hooker goes before Jamal Adams and Adams may end up in the teens.

You literally just described tight ends too haha.
Adams might not even make it to Jacksonville, my dude haha.

you mean the guy the Jags got from the Jets for a huge bargain after you guys reached like fuck for a TE in round 1?

oh yeah of course I remember. I'm totally glad we weren't the ones to spend the pick.

Even Chicago knows they need Hooker more than Adams now that they've converted Adrian Amos to SS

i get that Adams is very very good but Mark Barron aside (which is a huge LOL to begin with), it's usually only free safeties that can go THAT early.

  23. CarpetElf

Because usually there aren't strong safeties that are that good. Amos isn't that good either.

  24. This may not mean anything but based on this report and what I've read throughout the offseason, there seems to be mutual interest between the Panthers and Fournette.
