Same here.

 

Current US dates, Europe and UK tour in the summer, and then more US dates according to Mark. Followed by time off and then back into the studio at the end of the year.

Busy year for these guys

 

I kinda get a sum 41 vibe from this

 

I thought the same thing upon hearing the chorus.

 

I don't like the chorus at all. I liked the song before the singing started.

Reddit is fun. Someone said he's confused because people have been complaining about how "Parking Lot" isn't "punk" and how it just sounds like Good Charlotte, but they all love "Misery" even though that song sounds more like Good Charlotte (to him) and "they even stole the title from Good Charlotte." Sooooooooooooooooooooooo....... this is the world we live in.

 

i'm not much of a fan of the pre-chorus. but the chorus is fine. the verses and bridge are the best parts though.

 

Parking lot was a lot better.

Anyone who thinks that Parking Lot sounds more like GC than Misery is clearly on a heavy dosage of something.

 

"Parking Lot" sounds like NOFX, which is "punk" to me. Not sure what these Reddit users are smokin. haha.

 

I've just grown to not expect anything quality to come out of the music discussions on reddit.

The young suburbia stuff and all that in Parking Lot was far more GC than anything in this song.

To clarify, I was asking if this was a song they wrote/demoed pre-Feldmann since it has a darker vibe than most of California. I'm sure they recorded this version with Feldmann, but I'm still wondering if this was the original material that Feldmann did not co-write.

If I had a full record of "Left Alone", "Cynical" and "Misery" type tracks, I think I'd be happier with their new sound and direction. Mark sounds good over anything, but Matt is just better suited for darker pop music.

I mean, lyric wise, I can't argue with that. However, when musicality is concerned, it's clear Misery is far more similar to GC than parking lot. The lyrics on the last two songs have been kind of.....sub par regardless of who you compare it to.

 

Oh yeah I don't know. I know they say they scrapped all those songs but I find it hard to believe nothing stuck around. This is definitely more of the direction I want from a song with Matt on it haha.

I'm actually surprised there hasn't been a "fuck chorus" thread on that sub. We don't really pull punches in regards to reddit haha

 

I remember way back in the day when I heard they had a pop punk sub-reddit, I got super excited only to see that it was super garbage. A precursor to what became of the genre.

So the verse delivery kind of reminds me of Bowling For Soup's song "Me With No You"

 

Ya, I still like 'Parking Lot' and 'Hey I'm Sorry' more than 'Misery'. Damn, I really want to like it more. Even the bias in me to automatically love every new Blink song won't allow for it.
