  1. i actually remember enjoying Mama in theaters (didn't realize this was the same director) and that trailer looks better than I anticipated

Same, didn't realize it was from Mama director but I loved Mama so now I am more pumped (the ending kinda sucked, but I mean I have no idea how that story could have ended. I enjoyed the ride until then though). Movie looks serious and terrifying, I'm in!

That movie lost me when they showed Mama a bit too much.

There was some legit creepy stuff going on, like the half-cracked open bedroom door scene.

Thought it was a super cool concept with poor execution. They showed Mama too much too fast. Then in the end it wasn't even threatening right? I forget I haven't seen it since theatres but meh

It seems like everyone is on the same page that it was cool until the end. I dig a lot of the scenes and the way it was shot like what @RonandTammy said. The director has a way with shots, the opening of George chasing the boat looked so good.

Did anyone else feel that Pennywise running at the kids was a bit corny? I can't stand that "let's speed up the footage with millisecond chops to make it look scarier" approach.

    Maybe, but it was effective.

I'm going to for sure see this, and maybe I'll hold off on watching the original until I see this one.

haha the original scared me as a kid back in the day but watched it recently, its silly and has a ton of borefest inbetween the Penny wise stuff. Curry is amazing though.

There are so many old movies like this that I haven't seen. Speaking of Curry, I still haven't seen The Rocky Horror Picture Show only because of the intense hatred I have toward musicals.

Movie isn't for everyone, and for me personally the movie has to be really really really good for me to get over it being a musical. I'm not too into them either.

500 Days of Summer's musical portion still makes me cringe, but I can tolerate it.

    Doing fine. Prestigious

I agree that is a silly tactic, but I've noticed that it is far more often used purely for trailers and that rarely does it actually happen in the films.

Yeah but that might just be editing in the trailer. We'll see!

even though I hated Mama, I still have hope that this might actually be pretty good.

That test footage of mama was always scarier than anything that made the movie

I never had any interest in seeing Mama since I remember everyone being so meh on it but I guess I should at least see it now.

I know nothing about it. Sounds like it was pretty notable then?
