...I've been listening for the last 20 minutes. Guess I like it more than I thought!

 

I like it a lot on first listen! Definitely some heavy Trio vibes at times, which is what I've wanted since they announced Matt's joining the band. They're 2/2 for me so far with deluxe.

I love it!!

 

I feel like they should have lead with this instead of "Parking Lot". Actually gives a little more of a push forward in terms of sound instead of a throwback song. This is more in line with what I wanted out of the deluxe.

 

I like this one a whole lot more.

 

One thing i am thinking at the moment is that The guitar tone doesn't really fit with the song. It's too bright and happy. Needs more bass and grit.

 

god, now i want to listen to that song. it's so good. haha.

 

I definitely feel the Trio vibe on Misery. IMO, I think it is top 3 of the new line up with B2D and SD being 1 and 2.

 

Thank god this is so much better than Parking Lot. I was excited about PL the day it came out, but haven't listened to it since lol.
Misery is definitely the direction I wanted Blink to go in with Matt. Also what I was expecting from the deluxe after hearing Hey I'm Sorry.

sounds like modern blink 182 backwash to me. as a fan of both alkaline trio and blink, it just lacks anything beyond "this is catchy".

 

BTW ... new Movielife and more new Blink this year. I'm so happy

 

I'm so glad I don't hate it. Haha. It doesn't really sound like blink and it's more what I'd expect from a Matt/Mark collabo. Hope the rest of the deluxe album is more like this.

This is a jam! I loved Parking Lot and I love this too

 

Idk how I feel about it. Mark's lower register is bleh (sounds like he's sick) and the verses remind me of STFTK. Chorus sounds like a catchy grower. Not really digging that guitar production. After a few listens I enjoyed Parking Lot much more bc that's Blink to me. Misery isn't a terrible song though.

 

Yeah when you have a low voice it can be difficult to make it sound enthusiastic (I've learned this from my own shitty song making haha). That's why I think Matt sounds so much better and makes an impression on people when he's screaming in a higher voice. It just has so much more energy.

Still kind of surreal to be getting new Blink 182 music, like its something I still have to blink (no pun intended) and be like wait...what?

 

Misery is such a good sound for them. This is how Mark and Matt should sound when writing together.

 

Dig it. Cool to hear Mark's deep voice again. Somehow it made Parking Lot better aswell, it put it into some kind of setting. Dunno.

 

A lot better than Parking Lot. Better than a good chunk of California. I can dig it.
