  1. Jesus, dude. I'm level 9 and I still don't feel like I even know how to play. When I level up medals I just click "optimize," no idea how half the stuff actually works.

Its actually pretty simple once you get the hang of it. Basic concepts:
    - Huey, Duey and Luey are your leveling medals (medals designed specifically to level your other medals) although you can meld others together but they give significantly less exp to medals.
    - Combining Power medals (red) with each other provides the most exp to medals. Same for Magic and Speed ones.
    - When you fully level a medal, you evolve it to the next number of stars.
    - When a medal gets to 3 stars and up, you can combine it with the same medal, of the same number of stars, to boost the medal's special attack.
    - Then you have random medals like Cid and Scrooge and Chip/Dale which do things like reduce medal cost, add strength/defense or add skills.

That might sound really complex but once you look at the leveling and think about it for a bit, it starts to make sense :p

Finished Quantum Break. Good game! The first third was really easy but there was definitely a curve. The final boss fight was one of the toughest I've played in a AAA game since General Raam. Story was all over the place...I still don't really understand the rules of the time travel they were trying to establish...seemed half-baked and convoluted. Had a tough time getting into the concept of a genius college student who was able to invent a time machine totally on his own in ten years and thought it would be a good idea in the first place. The show was really well shot and acted though. Some of the writing was meh, but I gotta admit there were some genuinely funny, thrilling and shocking moments. But what happened to Paul? Why was Martin Hatch alive after getting a shiv to the dome? And I guess the fracture was patched, not fixed? So many loose ends. There was room left for a sequel, and I have no idea how you make a sequel to a game like this so it'll be interesting to see how that looks if it happens. Overall, story was well-produced and entertaining enough, and the gameplay/combat was stylish as hell and fun.

  4. Really loving Ratchet and Clank so far. There have been quite a few jokes about how it's a reboot and it gets me every time.

Got a strong urge to trade-in my shitty day-one X1, a $7 credit game, and use a $15 gift card for the $299 white Quantum bundle. I guess it'd cost $85-$90 for it in total probably. Would anyone else do this?

Well I played both R&C and Stories last night. I'm really happy I bought both.

R&C is definitely a throwback to classic platforming games like Jack and Daxter. Considering how few platformers like that exist, it's kind of refreshing to play something old school like that. And for those of you worried it will just be a repeat of the first- it's not. They use a narrative perspective to make sure there's something new for everyone.

Stories gets good once you've gained a few abilities. It has multiple endings and neatly implements replay elements. My only complaint is that i wish the camera was zoomed in a bit more.

First impressions of Ratchet & Clank after playing the first 2 Planets:

-This is what a Remaster should always be
-It's like you are playing a Pixar movie
    -Hilarious dialog, Gorgeous visuals
-Love the throwbacks and references to the original
-Would definitely be great for newcomers, but old school fans will get more of the references and whatnot
-LOVE LOVE LOVE the new gameplay elements
-Only downside i've noticed so far is the controls are a bit different and it's gonna take getting used to.

    It is and it isn't.

My first play through, I reached the end within a few of hours.

The thing is, each path you take will provide new information that will help you make more informed decisions when it takes you back (also you keep all your stats, weapons, level etc.)

Plus each time you reach a new ending, new choices (new areas) are also opened.

It all feels like one larger story you're attempting to unravel, so I would hate to say it's short just because I reached the end quickly. I'm working on my 2nd ending and I have yet to run into the same area from my first play through.

Interesting, can't say i've ever played a game that played out like that, i'll definitely be picking it up down the road.

Man, Blues and Bullets episode 2 is taking this story in a messed up/dark direction. I think this is going to end up a very disturbing game overall, it is already haha.

Yeah I'm the same, I don't know what could've changed or if anything changed to be honest but I'm not fluid like I use to be. But that's on me not the game itself.

Enter the Gungeon is great if you like The Binding of Isaac. Broforce was a lot of fun.

about to pull the trigger on division. One thing I saw in gameplay videos that I didn't like was that you have to unload a full clip like goldeneye into someone to kill them.

Not to sound like a broken record, but you should check out Stories: Path of Destinies.

It's a hack and slash adventure game on the PS4. Just came out yesterday.

I really don't think that shooting was R2 in the previous games it was O(which you can still use). I think for me it's partly because i replayed the original on PS3 a few months ago so it's still decently fresh on my mind haha.

I hadn't heard of Stories until reading through the last page. It looks really great. I'm a sucker for a good hack 'n slash. I'll have to check that out.
