I can never understand why YFW is anyone's top BN album, but I never had any attachment to it since I listened to it after I got into Deja and Devil and God. I also love Daisy front to back, so there's that.

Anyways, why hasn't Blink played Pathetic in nearly two decades? It's one of their best songs.

 

Someone posted that Instagram video of Feldmann playing a short clip of "good old days" over on Reddit

 

There isn't a song in blink's entire catalog that holds a flame to anything on TDAG.

I grew up loving both of these bands, but come on.

 

Hell, I'd take Ben Wah Balls over anything Brand New.

Might just be that blink has and always will be my favorite band.

 

I was just talking to my friend about how Ben Wah Balls is one of blink's best songs pre Enema.. Lyrically I think it's hilarious, and overall it's one of the strongest songs on CC, maybe if it was about something else it would've been more popular.

Exactly it's just a matter of opinion. I love BN and TDAG but I'd take Feeling This, Stockholm Syndrome, hell maybe even Bored To Death over that entire album. That's the great thing about music, you can't say that something is ever definitely better then others because someone else probably disagrees

 

I barely heard anything in that snippet.

 

The singing and melody sound great but I've always hated that style of drum beat with the open hi hat on the off beat.

 

But what you can hear is delicious lol

 

Some do, some don't. Pretty sure there was an interview wher Mark approached Skiba about him joining Blink and Skiba was slightly hesitant dependent on his Alkaline Trio schedule - but Mark had done the research and informed him he can work around it. So point being, Skiba's schedule was free - Tom's still isn't.

But sure, Tom clearly had other bigger ambitions, which is perfectly reasonable. Wouldn't say it's fair that he doesn't care for Blink though. Yet it's obviously also unfair on Mark and Travis for him to constantly delay the recording process, hence why Skiba is a perfect fit for the band right now. Still isn't a complete justification to continue as 'Blink' however. Hell, they could've easily reformed +44 and wrote No It Isn't Pt.2.

But hey, it did just remind me of when they got a replacement drummer for Travis:
"So just like last year, when Travis couldn't go to Australia and we got a fill-in drummer to replace Travis, we found a replacement guitarist for Tom on this show."
So maybe Tom's words about "They have someone doing my job for me" isn't so far-fetched after all. Nonetheless, Tom brings much more to the band than nostalgia. His ideas and style are completely different to Skiba's. Sure, Skiba sounds infinently better live but Tom has far more charisma and style about him that made Blink in the first place.

Except Brand New are hardly apologetic for their delays. Also, I respectfully disagree, as Tom is way more upfront about his procrastination considering he often details what's going on in his life - whether it's AVA, Blink, films, novels, UFO research, etc. Compare that to Jessie Lacey who had a breakdown on stage and has cautioned fans about how Brand New are on the verge of splitting up. They constantly give vague details and never truly explain what the hell is going on. Constant mind games if anything. They said they'd have a new album out in 2016 then retracted that. I'd take Tom's approach over Brand New's consistent letdowns anyday.

 

Oh come on now. Blink had a replacement drummer for Travis on an Australian tour because the guy won't fly on an airplane because he almost died in an airplane crash. The band replaced Tom because he doesn't want to be there. Big difference there. Not even in the same ball park.

And he doesn't care about blink its obvious. If he did he would have listened to the mixes and masters of Neighborhoods. He wouldn't agree to go on radio interviews to talk about blink unless the stations played AVA music. He wouldn't have continously delayed getting into a studio to record new music. He wouldn't have signed a recording contract and then quit/left the band a week later. And he has posted more about blink on social media since he left the band than he ever did while he was even in the band.

I won't argue about Tom's style/charsma vs. Skiba's though but I will say those same styles and charsma Tom had I'm not sure if we will ever get that back. He hasn't been the same musician since 2005.

 

So this Tom talk is still going on ? Let it go guys.

 

Yeah I'm going to have to side with TheJMan, especially when it comes to the Travis drummer thing. No where near the same thing, that was a fill in because Travis doesn't like to fly. Skiba isn't just a fill in, he is legit in the band. Recording albums, world wide touring, doing promotional work and interviews for the band. No where near comparable to a fill in drummer for a few shows because Travis won't fly. And tom wasn't that up front; he did interviews plenty where he claimed Blink would record soon and then back out at the last moment.

 

It went away and then came back for some reason lol. Misery in 4 days we need it now

 

Fuck it, I saw Beauty And The Beast last night in 3D and it was amazing.

 

Who here has seen Power rangers?!
