I still feel that if Tom got his shit together and came back to blink fully committed, I'd prefer that over anything. But since that isn't the case, Skiba is the best thing.

 

I will say I do enjoy Skiba being in Blink having brought fans over to Blink that weren't fans before, and vice versa with Trio.

 

Maybe because Tom has had a hectic schedule and other passions he is devoted to? It's easy for fans to mock him but they guy has clearly been busy with other projects. I feel people are way too harsh on Tom. We still got new music from Neighborhoods (2011) and DED (2012) and he had demos for the next album. Despite the jokes, there's genuinely beloved bands who don't devote nearly half as much effort as he did for Blink. Yet fair play to him for not kicking up a huge fuss when someone stepped in his role.

Brand New should get way more hate for album delays than they already do.

About what happend over his departure, not over Skiba or California (as far as I'm aware). Not like he's trying to sue them.

 

Pretty sure if you make fun of Brand New on Chorus/Absolute Punk you are banned immediately.

We make fun of Brand New being the biggest procrastinators all the time. Tom released a lot of bad music, then acted like a dick. That was pretty much why he gets the short end.

 

At least Tom is public with reasons as to why he procrastinates. Brand New haven't released anything spectacular since Devil. Hell, I'd probably pick Neighborhoods over Daisy. The demos were decent but sourced from old material so didn't feel fresh like new songs. I forget they even released new singles in 2016 cos they were so lacklustre. Point being, Tom still did way more work for Blink than beloved bands like Brand New ever did - despite knowingly having a busy schedule. The community jokes but still gives the band a pass.

Tom left the band and hasn't caused any drama since the initial departure. Him and Travis are on good terms. I'd happily wager safe bets he'll be in the band again (with or without Skiba) by 2020. Not moaning for Tom back now (it's better as it is atm) just feel any on-going hate is unjustified. He's been cool lately, imo.

That said, til then, bring on the 'Misery' release before this beaten-horse Tom topic (I've said my piece, lol).

'Be Gone' vs 'This is Home' makes it a tough call on the worse album of the two. But hey, preferences.

 

No, Chorus, for whatever reason, has been less ban heavy for dissenters. I've gone into the BN thread and come out alive. Wouldn't have happened in AP. Same goes for the GoT thread, Breaking Bad thread, Politics thread, and 2 years ago Walking Dead thread among others. I think people matured over the years with being less angry with dissenters. I wish I remembered the small things people were banned for back on AP. "Daisy is awful" "BAN THAT GUY!" "Why ISN'T HE BANNED YET" and then sure enough you would get banned.

 

I wouldn't pick neighborhoods over daisy just because the song Daisy is better than anything on Neighborhoods. But Neighborhoods had 1 or 2 tracks that I really liked. I do miss Tom, and I also do believe he'll be back one day. I hear there's new Angels so that should be good.

Go back a few pages and read the Rolling Stone interview I posted. Other people have busy schedules and make it work if they want too.

You can easily tell when Tom is super passionate about something which makes it easy to tell when he just doesn't care too.

 

Yeah I think the reason I poke at Tom but not Brand New is that they're at least up front about their procrastination. Tom consistently was like "YEAH WERE GONNA RECORD!" And then nothing. And that interview explains what was going on. So eh.

 

Exactly. I mean I'm sure he misses Mark, does he miss Blink right now ? Probably not. He's got other ambitions right now. Tom is a hard worker and that's something I admire him for. I love the people in this thread but some come off as condescending when they bash him like he did something awful.

 

Yeah, I mean I'll admit since the guy was once my idol and blink is my favorite band when this all went down at first I had a "fuck this guy" attitude; but with time and seeing how happy blink is with Skiba and how productive they are, and how he's happy doing his own thing and seeing that documentary that went away. Yeah the way he went about it was unsavory but him leaving was for the best (SKIBA!)

 

I like Daisy. Takes me back to the 90s, but I connected with Neighborhoods more. So...neighborhoods >

Tom just needs to keep Tom-ing on. He seems very happy these days. I'm happy for him. I really hope he does some touring for Dream Walker and releases new music soon though.

 

Also, was it Absolutepunk or Punkdusasters that had the "Battle of the Bands" back in the day? Final round ended up being between Blink and Brand New. I remember Mark finding out about it and telling fans to check it out too lol. Who won that battle?
