I'll see you again in 25 years Prestigious

It only feels worse now because it's in the moment. He'll come to tomorrow

Plus, I would rather take the finals loss than not be there any day.

  3. I ... did not have Florida as a Elite 8 team.

  4. It's a lot of factors - this team was better than a sweet 16 team and had a real shot to make the final four

The 15-1 Packers loss in the second round of the 2011 playoffs hurts more than the championship loss this season because of all the other surrounding factors

I dunno if that 2014 Badger team was good enough to win it all but they reached their absolute ceiling and making it that far felt satisfactorily whereas there is no satisfaction to be gained from this loss - potential unfulfilled

My bracket is on the same titanic with Big Baller and Bill Walton. Invested too much in the "conference of champions".

  6. So was the outmatched Cavs loss to the Spurs in 2007 more deveststing than that 66 win team losing to Orlando in the ECF finals a few years later?

  7. The latter was way worse. Honestly the old "happy to be there" adage actually applied. We were just kinda in awe of the Spurs

  8. That's I how feel tonight haha

Don't want to derail the thread, but define devastating? Personally, getting swept hurt more. From a team, business, and direction standpoint, the game 6 was definitely more devastating. No doubt about it.

Honestly, that's a tough one for me to reconcile. I feel like getting swept was still more devasting for myself. It's like being close to the top, but not really. That hurt a lot, but I was glad we got there. The Orlando game sucked. The Boston loss sucked too haha. But those were both really good teams with stars and really better constructed teams if you took LeBron away or he had a bad night. Not trying to dodge this, but it's hard to really say definitively for me. I think the Orlando loss was the worst for the team and that the Boston loss was just confirmation when you look back. The Spurs finals really made the Cavs' flaw known and provided a tangible blueprint for other playoff teams.

So, the UF game was one of the best basketball games I've ever seen.i thought for sure we were about to figure out a way to lose, but that fucking shot :crylaugh:

Looked terrible, went in. I felt like UF actually deserved to win that, but what a way to end it

I feel for Wisconsin. Still think they were disrespected with that 8 seed but it doesn't matter now. Bummer all three B10 teams dropped.

Yeah, in 2007, LeBron was only in his 4th year so it was kind of one of those feelings where if we didn't get it done in 07 vs a Juggernaut, there will be plenty of more opportunities. Plus, not sure if anyone remembers this, but in 07, the Cavs had a lot of things happen in the standings during the final few days of the regular season that was super advantageous to them.

Up until the final day or two, the Cavs were actually 3rd in their division which meant they really would have been a 5th seed instead of the 2 seed (Chicago ultimately was the 5th seed despite having 3rd best record in the East). It also took one of the greatest playoff performances of all-time vs Detroit to even get to the Finals. I don't think anyone actually expected the Cavs to give the Spurs a run for their money.

2009 and 2010, the Cavs were far and away the best team in the East (two of their best seasons in franchise history) and I think everyone expected them to not only be in the finals, but to win them. So, not even making it to the finals was a really, really tough pill to swallow. Also, something not a lot of people talk about, the Cavs blew a 20 point Game 1 lead in that Orlando series (lost by 1) in 2009.

Also by 2009 and 2010, the LeBron leaving rumors were flying left and right (although I never believed them) so there was a feeling among many Clevelanders that those two years were our final chances.

Bye bye Archie. I knew it was coming ever since he turned down Florida. He simply priced himself out of Dayton. He gets to stay in the midwest at a basketball-first school with a big budget. Crean, despite what some will say left IU in good shape. He did a lot of good things at IU. Archie will be setup to succeed. I wish him well. I expect UD to look to go with an internal candidate first, but that's simply my opinion. I have nothing to support that claim.
