I don't have any love for 'Los Angeles' but I will admit that I did enjoy it when I saw them live at Barclays

Mark and Matt both commented that it's one of their favorite new songs to play live. It's the same reason why Violence is still in the set as Travis really likes playing it.

In honor of them putting it back on the setlist...

I saw this concert live and it was, to this day, the best concert experience of my life

  7. As much as I used to love the guy, watching this clip makes me love the new lineup of Blink even more. Tom can't play his own fucking songs.

I didn't want to be the one to say it lol. He sings that song like it's an Angels song and it's just....no

Didn't he say he changed the way he sang because it was damaging this vocal chords?

Hm I never heard that possible though. I just assumed that was how he wanted to sing everything now

  11. he could still sing like this if he tried even a little bit

I always thought he just felt he needed to leave behind his sneering/whiny punk voice in order in his quest to become a more distinguished artist lol when in reality he just made himself into shit live performer that sounds drunk all the time.

I could be wrong but I thought Mark and/or Tom did a Q&A and the question was asked and the response was that he needed to change it. Or it could have just been a cover up answer to explain why he got all Bono-y.

I remember seeing BCR live and that being the first time I ever thought Tom really sucked at singing. I was pretty mind-blown with how bad he was. Then Self-Titled came out and I thought he sounded okay again. I. Just. Don't. Get. It.

When Tom left/quit blink his manager sent Mark and Travis an email saying: Tom. Is. Out.

I just figured you were making fun of it with the I. Just. Don't. Get. It. so I was just having some fun with it too. My bad.

The joke was funny. Tom was unlistenable. Matt sounded great playing this. It's ok to me if Matt is missing Tom's "charm" lol

I know people will justify it as "It's his song. He can sing it however he wants", but there has got to be a level. It's like he's going out of his way to sabotage them. Doesn't hit the notes, doesn't annunciate at all, and purposefully messes up the flow and rhythm of the words.

He confuses the hell out of me. It's common for bands to start to lose their "tightness" or the singer to lose his voice a little bit...but Tom sounds like he's never even heard those fucking songs before.

I love this 2006 response from Mark about "We Don't Need To Whisper"

    10. There is no hiding the disappointment of a lot of blink fans in relation to ‘We Don’t Need To Whisper’. What is your opinion of Tom’s new band? Did the bad media coverage of AVA alter your approach in promoting +44?

"Look, I have always liked Tom’s music. I wrote music with him for 13 years, and have always respected and admired his ability to craft some great songs. I like to think that we all pushed and inspired each other to create better and better songs, and I have been so proud of the music that blink-182 released, especially on the last record. However, his new album didn’t strike me at all. The verses in the first single were cool, but everything just fell apart after that. The rest of the songs on the album seemed long and repetitious. I kept thinking “wait, did I already hear this song?” On all the tracks, I was waiting for something to kick in, for the song to reach that point that pushes it over the top, and for me it never came. It seemed like there were some good ideas in there wanting to come out, but it never got to where it needed to go. For me, I have always loved the honest simplicity and beauty in Tom’s music and lyrics. This new album seemed forced and self-important. Like he was stomping his feet and insisting “I AM AN ARTIST NOW!!!” Like he is more interested in TALKING about making good music rather than just MAKING good music. Musically, I think Tom was stronger in the past. That’s my honest opinion of the album."

As depressing as it was at the time, I loved Mark for doing that single interview where he was brutally honest. It seemed like he was being spiteful and bitter back then, but it's funny how a lot of the things he said still seem to be true.

Definitely saw the damning effects of this on Neighborhoods, an album that had potential but was crafted in the wrong way

"We told him if we were going to record the album separately, in different studios, our band was ceasing to be a BAND. The magic in the studio is created when the three of us are there TOGETHER, working on parts, discussing, sometimes arguing, all pushing the album forward. Trying to frankenstein a cd together by mailing each other pro tools files to work on in our own private studios was ridiculous. It would lessen the entire album. It would be a terrible cd."
