What happened to As Cities Burn ? Their newest songs were pretty bad, and the drummer (I think?) was such a dick on facebook. Are they done again ?

 

Why does 5 guys not have multiple cheese options? God damnit.

they are done again. their reunion tour for SILYAYD's 10-year (cash grab) was stellar, though. I liked the new songs live, but not recorded. I think he eventually apologized and said he had a huge anxiety attack to the point where he had to quit the band even after they had booked the Acceptance tour.

 

Well, at least I still have their last two full lengths to listen to all day. Never been a fan of their post hardcore stuff, but I'll try to give Son a listen again.

 

Hawkboy was pretty good.

 

one of the best nights of my life was seeing as cities burn play all of SILYAYD, then copeland play for an hour, and then underoath play for an hour and a half. festival line-ups are weird but it worked because #centralflorida

 

Too bad, yep I hated the production on both songs. I hope he got better since then

 

I never heard of As Cities Burn until the Underoath farewell tour, then I tried to get into them but it didn't really stand out to me

That was also how I heard mwY for the first time, they were decent but I haven't listened to them at all since that show

 

Come Now Sleep is still one of my favorite albums of all time. So amazing

 

Not related, but you should all listen to A Hope For Home. Christian metalcore/post-metal that hasn't released an album in too many years. I miss them

 

I saw As Cities Burn open for Underoath at a tiny club in Green Bay in fucking 2005. Magical.

 

While all three are masterpieces, I think HOHW>CNS. Just my preferences. I want them to become a blues band. Well moreso

 

At the time, SILYAYD wasn't anything special--except maybe some of the guitar tones which became really evident on CNS--but man, if it's not one of the best things I've ever heard. Of Want and Misery is just... flawless. The way it slows down and then crashes through the climax. Wow. Not much music gets me like that one.

My mom wasn't sure yet that this wasn't "the devil's music" so i had to miss the underoath/chariot/as cities burn and emery/as cities burn/he is legend tours in 2005. now my mom listens to underoath. and i still haven't seen he is legend.

 

Just a bunch of awful action scenes, plot was lacking immensely. Bored me to tears.

 

My girlfriend got me Come Now Sleep on vinyl when it was first pressed on the clear 2 years ago??? Whenever it came out and it sold out before she got to it so she paid over paid by so much to get it for me because initially the prices were so jacked up. I was surprised and super happy. It meant a lot to me tbh

 

My mom used to play in Underoath

 

I think it was pretty special. Their drummer was nuts, and codys guitar playing was in a world on it's own and still a world largely untouched. Plus how raw the lyrics were. Definitely an outlier even back then imo
