Thanks so much for the kind words! But I highly recommend checking out the original haha. One of Death Cab's best songs IMO.
Glad you liked the vocals at the end too. I had just finished watching Love & Mercy and I was dead set on trying some Brian Wilson-esq harmonies haha

I struggled a lot with completing this song in the mixing stage, so hearing that makes me so happy. Thank you!

I have a song called "The Light Is On In Nobody's Home" which I feel really good about it, it's been almost done for quite a while now. Have been waiting for my friends recording studio room to become available again to finish it.

  8. @manoverboard365 This DCFC song is among my favorites and you totally did it justice! It has a Rookie of the Year sound to it, and I'm all about it.

@elemenohpe I always look forward to your tracks. This one is awesome, as expected!

bradsonemanband I knew that I wanted to do a Postal Service style cover as soon as we picked DCFC as our next comp. So this is what I came up with! It went through a couple different variations, but I like what I ended up with.

@Ugly Mug @redwing91007 @nothingsforeverdude We need more collaborations on our comps! This is fun!

@Jdaniels There's some great about a nice straight forward acoustic song. This one is great.

@Things So Impossible Another perfect one from you!

@Damien Davies I love that this was a blind cover and I love that it rules! Nice job, my friend.

@elemenohpe Yesss! Classic elemenohpe! :-) It's cool hearing Death Cab done in a totally different style, haha.

@Jdaniels Another great straight forward acoustic track from you. Love it.

@xkhiemster One of your best, man!

@t_papaccio This is one of my favorite DCFC songs and you nailed it, for sure! So good!

@JakeRabin Punk rock Death Cab? yes please! This is awesome!

@TedSchmosby Loooove the intro to this one.

@Wall Of Arms I love the tone of this song. It's mostly true to the original, but it also has a really cool ambient darkness to it that I love.

@ricklightning Glad you got this to me! I love the moodiness of this one too. Great closer too, it turns out!

I just realized that I want to do a cover song for a band I never/rarely listen to.. and look at the lyrics and cover it based on how the lyrics make me think the song should go.

  11. Things So Impossible

    Newbie

Great work everyone; this whole compilation came out so well! I'm glad Death Cab got so much love.

@manoverboard365 - This blew me away; great production. It gives me strong 90s/early 2000s vibes, which I love. This is probably my favorite song on this comp, so thanks.

@elemenohpe - The way you chose to open the song is awesome! You're always spot on with your instrumentation! You kill it with the straight covers and the more stylistically different ones.

@bradsonemanband - Doing a DCFC song in The Postal Service style is genius, and I'm glad to read it was intentional. This is the DCFC song I'm most familiar with, so I'm glad someone did it. You really killed it, and made it your own. It's probably my favorite cover I've heard of yours.

    Thanks for the high praise!

@Ugly Mug @redwing91007 @nothingsforeverdude - I am so psyched that you all collaborated on this. The structure changes of the song fit so well with the switching vocals. You all set a very high bar for future collaborators (of which I hope there are many). Nice harmonies!

Thanks for the kind words @redwing91007! The part where the drums kick in is my favorite too. Trivia: the drums were done on a keyboard by my brother @DashboardProfessional, who has contributed on other comps.

@Jdaniels - Very emotive vocals. I like the stripped down approach with the guitar versus the piano in the original. At 1:34, you sound like Bowie, so that's cool.

@Damien Davies - Your voice is DOPE. This was a blind cover? I am in amazement at this, and am definitely looking forward to hearing other stuff from you.

@elemenohpe - I laughed very, very hard when this started. THANK YOU. This is also really good. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I'm very impressed with your talent with different styles.

@Jdaniels - I like that you did an upbeat song in addition to your earlier, more somber song. Kudos to you for really owning both songs you did; you sound very comfortable with them. Also, you sound like Morrissey in this one. Also cool.

@xkhiemster - Your talent with playing all the instruments always impresses me. Your covers always sound so full, which is great. This is one of my favorite Death Cab songs, so thanks for taking it on!

@t_papaccio - This is so beautiful. I listened to this on repeat for like 30 minutes. Brilliant tone on all the instruments!

@JakeRabin - I love that you kept the spoken intro! I really like the punk energy in this. You kicked the original up a notch. The production on this is A+.

@TedSchmosby - I really like the lack of music in the intro. The guitar fading in really adds a lot to this version. It's cool that you took Death Cab's arguably most famous song and did something original with it. Your vocals fit this song really, really well. The ending is really inventive too. This whole thing oozes a confident style, and it's great.

Thank you for the compliment! I did indeed use the same chord progression as the original. Thanks for listening to my other songs too; the Weezer one was one of my favorites to do.

@Wall Of Arms - It's cool how much you sound like Ben Gibbard at times. The music on this and the atmosphere is killer. That recurring cosmic sound is awesome and adds so much. Great job! This was a great last song for the comp too, before the addition of Company Calls Epilogue.

@ricklightning - Great guitar tone; it really conveys the moodiness of the song, especially with the fuzz at the end of the song. The last note really ends the song, and coincidentally the comp, in a cool way. Very creative.

Thanks for putting it all together Brad!

I have some clear favourites, but that's after like my 8th listen of the whole damn thing. Everyone did such a great job, some people actually did their best work on this comp I feel.

I'm ready for the next one!

  13. I also did A Lack of Color and Cath, which you can find on my YouTube channel if you want to check those out. (Didn't feel like submitting two, and technically I recorded Cath today, way after the deadline.)

Again, great job, everyone! So glad to be on such an amazing comp.

  14. If all goes according to plan, I'll be doing three collabs on Mitski songs next month, which would fit right in to a Female comp or a POC comp.

Female/non-male artists would be great. Already have a bunch of ideas if that would be the one to win the voting.

Wow, didn't know that site existed. Now we are having loads of fun with it in my work place. :P
