I don't think he gave anything up. He's most likely receiving royalties for the rest of his life, even for new material they write and sell without him, just because they're being released under the 'blink-182' trademark. I'm no lawyer, but that's a huge possibility from what I already read about.

 

That way he can keep on chasing shadows...

 

I would guess they buy him out of the name, give him a percentage of royalties on anything he helped create (Back catalog) and probably a percentage of tour revenues and stuff? Just a guess though.

 

If the new Blink album has similar energy to the new PAWS song, it's gonna end up being a banger. Mark produced their upcoming album and they dropped a new song today.

 

Damn that's a great song, I have really enjoyed basically everything Mark has ever produced. Great producer. I wonder if PAWS could be an opener for a future Blink tour.

 

My best assumption about it being 'friendly' is Tom is rightly paid the money he is owed for any sales of their entire discography and for their live shows as he wrote most of the songs they will continue to keep playing and has just agreed to take nothing from any future music.

 

Guys it is no question that Tom is and will forever be receiving royalties for their discography. He is credited with 33.33% royalty share on all songs. Doesn't matter if he's still in the band or not. He is also entitled to performance royalties for every pre-2016 Blink song that they perform live in concert.
That isnt something they had to agree upon....that's copyright law. You don't lose your royalty shares just because you left/got kicked out of a band.

 

I hope it's not a bunch of drama..

 

I was just about to post it. I hope it's a long interview telling the untold story of the recording process, behind the scenes on the formation-transition and news about the upcoming release.

its probably just going to be a timeline, spliced together with past interviews and maybe short tiny bits of retrospective 'new' stuff from Travis.

 

Yeah it doesn't look like there's an actual interview there so I don't see any new info being there

 

This week is turning out to be nothing like you guys promised it would be over on last Sunday

That seems too early to me, unfortunately. My guess is July 15.

I am saying June 10th.

I want to reiterate how disappointed I am that in an era of direct artist to fan interaction vie social media and online distribution mechanisms, Blink have chosen to let modern rock radio, the gatekeepers of a dead era, hype their new single instead of just releasing the finished product to their fans directly.

 

Blink is terrible with social media. Mark's tweets and instagram posts are funny, but that's about it. I work with social media strategies and content for brands in an ad agency, and it's very frustrating for me to see what blink does with their profiles. They could be doing so much more, and sometimes I wish I managed their accounts for them.

Yikes, I understand what you're saying. Not much there to get excited about.

 

I could be exaggerating, because as a fan, I wish to see more content: in studio documentaries and short videos, more pro-shot photos and they using their profiles as a diary of some sort for the band. But who knows, they might have a good strategy in the works after this period of silence.

 

I think if blink was just hashtagging shit all the time and utilizing social media like other people do I'd be sick of them by now. I feel like they've teased and shown just the right amount of stuff to get me super excited. The recording process for this album feels the same as it always had with blink and that's fine with me. But I'm old and hate social media more than I embrace it, so ignore me lol.

 

I'm still just waiting for Mark to say SOMETHING about the album. He's been mute.
