But really, more X-Men talk. Like how much 12-yr-old me had a crush on Kitty Pryde.

I can't argue with you. There's times when I would agree, but then I think of Heath Ledger's performance as Joker and go back to my original ranking. Love seeing some love for Batman 66

Which X-Men comics would you like me to read for potential future pods?

I thought about what else I'd like to talk about some at work today. I think the next comic I'd wanna do is All-New Wolverine: The Four Sisters (which is #1-6).

Also X-Men-related, but dunno if it's something you'd be interested in: I kinda wanna talk about the X-Men film universe. Like, in general. My favorite and least favorite things they've done, how to make sense of continuity, what I wanna see next, that sorta thing.

I feel like the only person who liked zero X-Men films prior to First Class.

But dude... like... X2 was the best X-Men film up until the beginning of this month.

I just think I wasn't a fan of that cast. It just did nothing for me. I didn't like the first movie, and it felt like it didn't get any better from there. I think I just wasn't into comic book movies much. Never understood the hype for SM2 either.

I starkly defend SM3 though, because I love Sam Raimi and that is the most Raimi movie ever.

Craziness. X2 is such a strong film with a big cast of characters that pretty much all get to have their own worthwhile journey throughout the film. It's still to this day one of my all-time favorite comic book films. And, I specifically don't care for First Class for your reasoning for the early films: Besides Fassbender and McAvoy, the cast is 100% unappealing to me. Gah. How dare your opinion be so wrong here.

Solidarity on Spider-Man 2, though, lol. It did a lot right, especially Doc Ock and JJJ, but like, Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man/Peter Parker is the wooooooorst.

I'll find that on MU and let you know as soon as I read it.

We can do that, too! I've watched all but Apocalypse I think. Kind of been dragging my feet on that one.

I think my big thing on First Class was the fact that it focused on a small cast of mutants that we didn't typically see. Most of them never even made appearances prior, which was awesome. The thing that took me out of Apocalypse was adding all of those characters we'd seen in the first series of films. And the TV show. And the comics for the last thirty years. I get that they are the key players, but the series feels fresher without them. I'll take Havok and Banshee over Cyclops any day.

Ha, understandable. It's a rough one! It's only the third worst X-Men film (above Last Stand and Origins: Wolverine), but it's... not good. So many puzzling, frustrating choices!

But, like, the Havok and Banshee in that film were so lame. lol. Plus, it has two of my favorite X-Men characters (Emma Frost and Beast) and fails to make either of them interesting, with Emma being particularly frustrating in how lifeless she was. Fassbender's Magneto is fantastic, and the idea of finally making an X-Men film not centered on Wolverine is so good on paper, but instead of making a super unique mix of characters and letting them shine, they picked a batch of kids so dull that I was almost relieved that half of them were quietly killed off.

If you can't tell, I find First Class to be weirdly frustrating, lol.

Well I'll suffer through it for the podcast! Haha. Might have to rewatch some of the others.

I think i might agree with more of your criticisms of First Class now that I've actually read X-Men comics. I know I'd at least be bothered by Emma Frost a lot more.

Whedon's Astonishing X-Men or Morrison's run on New X-Men are all worth talking about.

I wish they had at least included 3-5 Stepford Cuckoos in Logan (since their origins are actually just similar enough to Laura's that them being amongst the rescued children would've made sense). Getting just that small taste of Emma Frost would've been awesome, lol.

I'll be honest, when Wolverine stabs that guy into the fridge in X2, I lost my damn mind.

My nostalgia over seeing that movie pretty much makes that movie untouchable for me.

Every X-Men team film has really puzzling decisions, but X2 has the fewest of them. The story they tell with every character is so effective that, while watching, I can even kinda accept Halle Berry as Storm, lol.

On that note, holy crap, how is Fox so bad at using Storm? Like, come on. As low as my hopes always were for Apocalypse, I thought they'd at least have an Ororo I can fully get behind... but instead, she was mostly sidelined and freakin' made a villain!? (Weird that every POC was a villain except Jubilee, who was magically separated from everyone else 'cause reasons...) They could've done the whole Xavier meeting her on the streets thing, and then had her be their in into Egypt to look for Apocalypse!

    *sigh*
