I was trying to find that other pic with the whiteboard in the background (I think it was IG) but I only have so much patience for internet sleuthing lol

 

Glad to see some love for Neighborhood, here. It was a logical move after untitled, a grower album.
This (Parking Lot and California in general) is crap IMO... I hear Feldmann signature : Goldfinger's harmonies et chords, vocals everywhere, no building, easy tricks that all the bad pop punk bands use (gang chorus, wowo, overmastering...) and that Blink never need to use before because the band had already great songs.
I don't hear Blink 182 signature anywhere, don't hear Mark Hoppus writing habilities, don't hear Matt Skiba's depth, don't hear Travis groove. It sounds like the 1 000 pop punk bands stuck in their late 90's that you can find if you hit a trash can in Los Angeles. Tom is out, I get it, but those guys can do so much better.
Just my opinion. People seems to enjoy, happy for them !

Well I really dig the song!
Lyrics really hit home to me.
Has been so much angst amongst the youth in our city since the current government has come in and

- built casinos on parks
- made all the pubs and nightclubs close at 1am from 5am, killing all nightlife but allowing the casinos to stay open all night
- allowing the murderous and cruel greyhound racing to continue despite an independent commission calling for its shut down
- cut down 100yr old trees for rail
- selling off public owned assets

Enough on that rant. Fucken dig the song. Punk rock with lyrics that make my juices flow personally

 

The song grows a lot on me. I just think the second verse is sooo boring and really drags down the tempo.

 

I enjoy the song a lot but to be fair it's in contention for Mark's worst verse ever.

Also musicians love 3 a.m. don't they lol

 

I don't really understand extreme reactions to this song one way or another. It would just fit right in with the rest of California. It's certainly better than something like The Only Thing That Matters or Rabbit Hole or Teenage Satellites imo.

I actually wish this was all Matt though, he kills this song

I don't love it, but it's pretty fun the more I listen to it

 

California has surprisingly held up all through winter for me, but I feel like this song would really benefit from summer weather haha.

 

I do hope on the deluxe that there are a few songs with only one lead vocalist

 

Went for the green record. Oddly enough, I don't mind this song even though I'm not the biggest California fan. Curious as to what the others sound like.

It strange 3am ay. It was always the exact time I used to go home on weekend nights like clockwork (before above ranted 1am lockouts). It's def my 11:11 of curious times



That pink vinyl is very groovey. Love it

Retraction on my rant
I thought the lyric was "fuck this place lets put up a parking lot" was from the voice of big business but it's Matt screaming it in defiance to (Joni Mitchell perhaps) wanting it for skateboarding?!!
I'm a fuckin goomba for my first thoughts of what it meant
Rant still stands on my anger though. And song still rules

What's important is what it means to you, Schooner! Your interpretation can give the lyrics some more depth haha

 

Can't wait when new Goldfinger will come out and people will complaining about it sounding way too like Blink....
