Being disappointed by your child has to be an absolute nightmare.

I think I'd quite like kids one day and I think I'd do okay. My main worry would be that I'm far too logical and would likely seem harsh. That and my crippling fear of embarrassment probably means I'll create quiet, stunted children. But, maybe that's better than loud, stupid ones.

 

That's such a dumb thing to judge someone for. You could make the opposite argument, that it's selfish to have kids because we're so overpopulated already. But the main reason it's dumb, is that you should be allowed to do whatever the hell you want, haha.

Yea I mean, if you care more about the species as a whole than selfishly wanting to raise your genes, then you should adopt. There's plenty children out there already. But hey who cares about over population. It's only exponential.

 

I'm gonna take them far away from you and raise them to be world famous rock stars and you'll be sad.

There are people who are financially, mentally, physically, emotionally... unstable to take care of a child yet they have a dozen of them and no one bats an eye. In fact, they give them a fuckin' TV show.

But when someone who knows they aren't equipped to raise a child, or just doesn't want one, people give you tons of shit.

It's really weird.

 

Also, I feel like some people think that the entire purpose of life is creating more life.

 

I haaaate that. Not everyone is obligated to like kids, but u don't have to go so far to the other side of the spectrum. Everyone was a kid once and they're just doing their thing. Of course they don't process things like adults. And tbh ppl are too hard on parents too. Yeah most parents aren't like developmentally appropriate with kids but many are trying their best with what they got and as long as they're trying and advocating for their kids they're usually doing ok

My 1.5 year old kid is the coolest and I'd much rather hang out with him than some of my dick hole friends.

 

Pets are cheaper and I can move them wherever I want without guilt. I'm stuck wherever I have kids. No bueno.

 

I like kids. Don't get me wrong. I'm just not stable enough to take care of one. I have dogs and they are more than I want to be responsible for.

 

I can't even take care of a dog right now.

I think there are people truly meant to be parents. And I also think a lot of people turn out to be good parents. But everyone doesn't need to become a parent. But society kind of pushes the 'big family get married have kids' shtick. Which was cool like 200 years ago.

 

If I have kids who don't like Bruce, The Beatles, Billy Joel and Prince I will be very sad. But I also like most of what my dad likes, so maybe that can be genetic.

I'm torn between wanting kids and not. My friend says I'd be a good dad, but I'm afraid of fucking up as a parent somehow

 

I never used to want kids, but now I think I definitely do. I want to be able to guide them and help them become empathetic, caring, strong, intelligent and loving people who want to do good in the world.

Also, no one I know irl is that into baseball and I want to indoctrinate them with that asap.

 

I have visions of teaching my daughter how to keep score in her program at Fenway vividly.

 

Today is one of those "nope no kids for me ever" days lol. Done with kids and parents until eternity*

I didn't want kids for the longest time. Then when I was with my ex, I was kind of excited about the concept. I think it all depends on the situation and where you're at in life.
