I could never really get into The Wonder Years. I don't mean this at all to come off like I'm told old for a certain type of music or anything, but I wonder if I would've liked them a lot more had I discovered them when I was 17.

 

I'm with you there, though I did enjoy The Greatest Generation. Really like that one.

 

I like The Wonder Years in general, but I don't like how they have barely progressed musically over 4 albums. They are consistent, for sure, but they really don't push any boundaries and it get's stale after a while.

My TWY fandom was pretty short lived, got really into them in the spring of my freshman year and felt like I had already grown out of them two years later. I don't think they've progressed enough to keep me interested -- NCTH was just a lesser version of TGG.

Best New Music Friday of the year!

 

I had an idea for a split, influenced by how the Moving Mountains/Prawn split compliments each other and how Thrice's TAI explores different sounds with each element.

Let's say two bands get together to make a split. For the sake of the example, let's say Brand New and Jimmy Eat World, despite how unlikely that is. Both bands will release two splits and it will be done like this:

Brand New leads Split 1 with 2 songs. They introduce a concept based off of their sound and how they want to progress from it. Jimmy Eat World closes off the split with 2 songs that compliment what BN brought to the table.

On split 2, JEW introduces the sound of the album and BN compliments it with the closing tracks.

The purpose behind this is to have one split where the band can progress their sound naturally and another where they experiment in ways they might not have done before with the aid and influence of another band.

 

This is pretty much exactly how I feel. I’ve tried to get into them several times, but each time I can’t get past how similar it all feels. I know they’re pretty good at what they do, but some significant progression would be nice.

 

Any fans of The Graduate in here? I've been getting really into The Sun and the Sea lately, which has mostly the same members but a different singer. I'm starting to love their album American Empire just as much as I love Only Every Time.

 

I love The Graduate. Everything they released was spectacular, and the Sun and the Sea is great too. I know it won't happen, but I'd really like to see an Anhedonia ten-year anniversary show next year.

Pedantic I know but can we get the title of this thread changed to match the General Chat Thread. the (1) is confusing me with alerts.

 

Does the I make it any better? Jason changed the General chat thread to I instead of 1 when I mentioned the same thing.

And yeah, TSSF have always been awful.

 

It's always wild to see the excuses people make in situations like this. A Facebook friend of mine said Parker was "just hype and having a good time." Seriously?

 

Of course people are going to defend it, pop punk bros are some of the shittest people on the planet as far as I'm convinced after years of dealing with them on AP. Hasn't Parker done this before to someone?

 

That's really excessive and honestly weird, considering how quickly the band jumped to defend one of their fans getting roughed up by security several years ago.

 

That's what I was thinking of. Happened a couple years ago if I remember right, last time they were on Warped.

 

I mean, we've also discussed how ridiculous it is to take selfies up on stage, but that still obviously doesn't excuse what he did in this situation.
