I am so excited for this. They've always seemed like great dudes and Rocking Chair Years was pretty solid. I love that they're just dropping this so suddenly. I had totally forgot they posted in December about finishing recording the album.

HOLY SHIT THIS IS ACTUALLY FINALLY HAPPENING?!?!?!?!?!

So stoked. Rocking Chair Years may in fact be the most underrated album of the DTR era.

  11. Crazy. That's so soon, too!

I never thought RCY was as great as the standard people seemed to set it as years after it came out, but it was enjoyable for the most part and I'm def down to hear what they can come up with now.

About to check this out. Was expecting a full length but it's only 7 songs.

  13. I really, really like this. "Last House On Holland Island" sounds like it was pulled straight from The Rocking Chair Years, and softer stuff like the opener and "The Brightening" are great too.

Only a few songs in but they sound fantastic. Really good production and the vocals sound good as ever.

Seeing some references to Houston Calls in here. Are they intertwined somehow? I used to love that band in college!

Hadn't noticed the references, but they were both signed to Drive-Thru Records back in the day. Not sure of any other connection.

I'm really loving this. It's like an anthem of sorts.

I just found out yesterday that this was released. I used to check absolutepunk all the time for updates after I heard they were working on a new album three years ago, but I stopped last year. Anyway, what a comeback! Love every song on this (but I do not like the twee intro of the second song). The vocals are amazing, and the lyrics are good (thankful is a beautiful song about his daughter). And wow, the production is so rich. I listened to my current favourite song (slomo by slowdive) right after this, and the production sounded flat (I thought it had great production before). I doubt they will make any more music after this, but that is okay as this will satisfy me for a while.
