I think Stephen King got something like 750 rejections before Carrie got published. It's a right of passage.

Yes, but then you forfeit any chance at traditional publishing.

I think the modern average is 35 rejections. That feels less daunting.

 

So what's the prices now? Just sending it to other publishers? I didn't think there were that many publishers out there.

 

I'm in the process of getting an agent. Agents then go to publishers.

 

After 35-40 rejections, you're supposed to shelve querying a novel 2-3 years.

My sister is a writer but keeps it all very hush hush. Which sucks cuz she is a great writer and I like reading her stuff but I get it too.

 

She bases a lot of things off of family members and family life so I know it's weird for her haha.
