Shut up is fantastic musically but the lyrics aren't my type

I actually really like Shut Up, tbh

I hate to say so, but honestly California really has not held up very well with me. There are some good songs to be sure (Bored To Death, Los Angeles, Left Alone, and San Diego are highlights) but a lot of the album just kind of falls flat. I feel like Mark, Matt, and Travis are all underutilized to some degree, especially since I know what they are capable of from Alkaline Trio, +44, the self-titled Blink album, etc. A lot of it is too samey and frankly, i think they are trying too hard to rekindle what they did before the self-titled, and not quite capturing that same lightning in a bottle. I want to like it, especially with Matt at the helm, but it's just not doing it for me. Maybe it's because I was expecting a darker sound akin to a mix of alk3 and +44 before it first came out, and I never really got into what it ended up being.

I agree. I honestly think the co-writes messed up what could have been an amazing collaboration between Skiba, Mark & Travis. I would love to hear the songs they scrapped before they got Feldmann involved.

I would have liked the darker sound, that mix of alk3 +44 Untitled Blink. However California has held up very well for me, with there being really no songs I skip over(not counting joke songs). It's rare these days I find an album by any band I don't have skibbable songs on.

I'm listening to a lot of blink at work today and it's making the day so much better

Having Cynical as the alum opener is so killer. Once that first tone strings out, it's game over for me. I have to listen to the whole album.

If you ever complain about co-writers just remember Patrick Stump has writing credits on San Diego which is the best song on the album

Complaining about co writers is just a bad argument in general. Finn helped in the past, and many other bands have had them. They just weren't as credited as they are now

Always surprised to see so much dislike for Shut Up. It's one of the few songs I still enjoy from my least favorite Blink album.

Yeah same with Sober which people here also love.

I swear we tackle the co-writers topic once a week on this forum. I think next time someone mentions it should be suspended or even banned, haha.

It's a nice 75 degree day in Nashville, and California still hits the sweet spot on warm days lol

    Here's how I would've released the singles

    4/16: Bored To Death

7/16: She's Out Of Her Mind

10/16: Home Is Such A Lonely Place

    1/17: Left Alone

    5/17: Sober

    7/17: Deluxe Track

I think Home Is Such A Lonely Place may be the last one. This band never really releases that many singles per album.

Usually I wouldn't add so many singles, but since it looks like it may be a while till they release a full new album (not including deluxe) I'm making the list based off the assumption that the record label wanted/wants to milk this one

Untitled and TOYPAJ had 4 singles each: Feeling This/I Miss You/Down/Always and Rock Show/First Date/STFTK/AnthemPT2

True but I meant more that with their current release schedule I think it's more likely the fourth single will be from the deluxe

Ah gotcha. Yeah I think this confirms that Sober will never be a single. Next and last single will most likely be a deluxe song.

Which sucks, because when I did the meet and greet with them back in August Mark said that there actually was talk of Sober being a single after SOOHM. Looks like that fell through
