Hasn't Young Thug already had allegations like that?

Why do all the rappers y'all rec that I start to like turn out to be dicks? Thug, Kodak, Migos all done/said horrible shit just after I start listening to them.

So do those you that "boycott" artists for stuff like this ever listen to like Tupac or DMX or something? Or do only artists that started more recently have to live by a certain standard? I'm aware this sounds very snarky, so please understand that that is not how I mean it. I'm genuinely curios.

I don't typically boycott artists for stuff like this but these situations definitely rub me the wrong way, and certainly affect my outlook on the artist... particularly if there were actual actions in their real life and not just a problematic lyric or something. Personally I try to separate the art from the artist most of the time but if something truly bothers me enough, then I'll probably just naturally wind up not listening anyway.

It definitely can put me off artists or albums that I like well enough but not love, if that makes sense

For whatever reason, personally, I'm usually not as able to separate art/artist when it comes to physical acts of violence. I guess I don't really have a clear cut way of boycotting artists in general. Sometimes it puts me off so much I just stop, sometimes it just hangs over my head when I listen to it, idk.

There are just too many factors at play. What did the person actually do/say? Was it confirmed or just an accusation? How important was their art to you prior to the incident? I think the last one is the defining thing for me, and lots of other people probably.

I tend to be able to separate the art from the artist most of the time, but physical violence really pushes the bounds. Of artists that I like, it doesn't actually happen that often, but I definitely deleted every single thing by Lostprophets from my library and haven't listened to a note since, that was my most recent incident of something like this

He was acquitted yes and it happened very shortly after he was formally charged which took a while for some reason even tho he was being held for months, that whole case still makes no sense to me

Cool, now I can try to get into his music. From the snippets I've heard I know I'll probably love Pinata but I didn't want to listen to him and start loving his music if he ended up being a piece of shit

I only recently dug deeper into 2pac and B.I.G. and in BOTH cases, I am just blown away at the incredible quality and consistency in their final albums, which both somehow are double albums that are worth being double albums
