this is my first nintendo system since the game cube, and i literally can't express how excited i am.

 

Pacific. It's shipping from Tucson, or mine did at least. Via FedEx.

Interesting. I ordered it with their credit card since you get the discount and free upgrade to the shipping. Maybe that has something to do with it. Either way, Target is pissing me off by not sending any update. Bullshit company.

 

Mine will be waiting at my house for me tomorrow after work.

Those 9 hours are going to be so awful. I wish I didn't have to go in to work tomorrow.

 

I'm in the middle of playing through Wind Waker HD on my Wii U. I leave tonight for my bachelor party in Vegas and all I could think was how cool it would be if I could just play Wind Waker on the plane.

The Switch is such a bad ass concept.

If I get an update soon... Someone at the customer service department at Target is going to have their day ruined.

 

Yeah, to anyone doing a midnight release at Gamestop for the first time, in my experience the process is roughly:
- Allow customers who preordered in the store from 10-11 or so, to "pre-ring" those customers. Basically, allow partial preorders to pay off in full if they haven't already, and then print a new receipt for all who have preordered.
- This puts people in to some kind of receiving order, idk what it's based on, but it is basically meant to further expedite the receiving process.
- Wait outside again until around midnight, reforming the line based on your pre-ring receipts.
- Allow preorder people to enter the store in waves, nice and quick because all payment has already been taken care of and they're just dealing out your goods based on your pre-ring receipt.
- Allow walk-in hopefuls to purchase leftover units on a first-come, first-serve basis.

This has been my experience for Pokemon launches, never done a console.

 

From what I've heard, Gamestop is doing pre-rings starting at 6 PM, then you can just come back later on if you don't want to stay

 

They called me last night. Apparently you pick up your ticket for a place in line starting at 6:30pm and from 6:30pm to 11:30pm they are doing 50% boost trade in towards anything switch related.

 

This pretty much applies to all launches, software and hardware, for anyone who doesn't know. Switch launch might eliminate the last bullet point because there might not be any leftover for walk-ins, but yeah.

As for the pre-ring order, I've seen it done a number of ways. Some write numbers on the receipts for your place in line, some just let you line up on first-come first-served bases, it all depends on what your local GameStop prefers. As a side note, depending on how many preorders your local store was allotted, the wait times might not be that crazy even if you don't line up early. Everyone who preordered gets in before the walk-ins, so if you preordered you might be able to just show up at midnight even and not have to wait terribly long. Anyone hoping for a walk-in, though, I hope you're already on line lol.

That's rough. That's what I'm afraid will happen to me. I called and confirmed that they have it marked for express shipping. But I won't believe its arriving until I get a damn update.

You should try and call to have them change the shipping.

 

checked the r/nintendoswitch order status thread and it seems like a number of people who went through target are getting the same update, which is lame

 

Yeah when I was on the phone all day Tuesday trying to sort out my payment issue, I also told them to add the $15 express shipping so I'd get it tomorrow. I was already hearing of the possibility of delivery on Monday (at the earliest) and was not having any of it.

 

Oh, don't worry about me. I ordered two for this very reason. It appears Amazon will be here tomorrow.

 

Amazon promises delivery on release dates for all things. Usually if they don't deliver on the release date you'll get some kind of compensation.

 

Got the confirmation. It will be here tomorrow.

Nice. I'm pretty excited. I think this is the first time there has ever been a game of this caliber released with a new console.
